[ QUOTE ] My flight gets there at around 6 the day before the first event I'm playing in. What time is registration over each night? I just thought my host could take care of it for me since I have an unlimited open line of credit at the Beau. I'll call her today and see. Is Donna still offering the reduced rates over the weekend? Think someone said 70, 90, 90.

Re: Gulf Coast Poker Championship (WPT)
We have a total of 81 tables, 65 in the conference room upstairs, and 16 in the main room downstairs. 891 total seating if we go 11 handed. We can also get alternates in for the first hour ( about 100-150), which leads me to believe we can accomodate around 1,000 players in each field.
Goat, I think the example that puts 485 in the prize pool is the coorect one. Donna is still taking reservations for all dates except the holiday weekend. All 400 poker rate rooms are sold out. an average of 1.5 players per room, means about 600 players are staying onsite that weekend, not counting offsite players, players not in the poker blocks, and drive in business. Around 800-1000 players for the prelims sounds good.... JG |

Re: Gulf Coast Poker Championship (WPT)
By the way,
For those of you who like to play in decent size buy-in tourneys with a good structure, we just finished our first weekend of the month tourneys at Gold Strike. Saturday was a $3,000 added NL event. $335 buy in, 6,000 in chips and 30 minute levels, with the same structure listed earlier in the post(minus the 25 ante 100-200 level). We had 91 players for that one with a 1st place of 10,400. Our Sunday event is a $335 buy-in NL, 6K in chips, 40 minute levels. We had 97 players and 1st was 9800. These events are as good as it gets with chips and structure(outside of a major event). If you want to try them out, come see us on the first Saturday and Sunday of each month. These events are the nuts..... JG |

Re: Gulf Coast Poker Championship (WPT)
Labor day weekend is sold out at those rates. I called and Donna advised that the rates had been sold out for some time. So, if you are going Labor day weekend, there are rooms open at the Beau, but they're going to cost you almost 300 bucks a night to stay there.
Hence why in the end, I decided to go to the WSOP Circuit event in Tunica, where the top price for a room under the WSOP rate (see other thread in this forum), for labor day weekend, is only $115 a night (most nights otherwise, it can be as cheap as $45 a night). Add that to the lower airfare from Denver and so on, I figured I'd save enough money on travel and lodging expenses, to pay for at least one $500 buyin for that weekend. |
