was just finishing casino whoring for like 80 bucks an hour, had about a 5K roll after regular withdrawls ( had no interest in gettng higher then that)

Neteller and such come to pass I cash out all but 86 dollars on stars.

Don't really play at all until they stared running sats to the weekly 100K. I now have a 475 dollars. Half is now on Absolute, and I am regularly playing above my head in the 11 Multi table Sit and Goes but running sick hot ( about 500% ROI for my first 5 tournys).

Playing about 5 tournys a week now instead of the 15- 20 hours a week I was a year ago.

Ken

August, 2006:
Doing a job I found mind numbingly boring, b/c I was had supported my soon to be wife though nursing school. I had been using poker as an intellectual outlet, since I thought the 19 year olds on 2+2 were smarter, and more rational than anyone I had talked to in finance. I was mostly a low limit MTT grinder, b/c I was cashing out every month to pay bills, save for a wedding, etc. I had recently found out how much money I actually had to come up with for my wedding, and honestly had no idea what I was going to do.

I took a 1500$ bonus from work, and played as much poker as I could handle. Pretty much giving up any front I had put on that I liked my job, or gave a F- if they ever decided to pay me what I was worth, I put together a resume, and started working on my poker game most of the day.

I started playing better, and started getting my share of luck. I had my first 6 figure score on party, and won enough in MTTs, cash games, and live MTTs to pay for my wedding and honeymoon. Topping off with a deep run in a party Saturday Special and just missing the FT of a US poker open prelim event on a bad beat, on 2 hours sleep and 10 red bulls.

My last day of work before my wedding, I got a job offer working with a friend that I used to work with. Much better money, and an awesome job.

Now, I grind away when I need the cash, take shots in bigger MTTs when I feel like it, and am probably worse at poker now than I was in January. But, I am now doing things in finance that I find challenging and exciting. Now, the people I meet through work often are players themselves, and see poker skill as a huge plus rather than some shady thing that you can't talk about.

I was actually at a meeting with a hedge fund a few weeks ago, and they had a chip set and decks of cards sitting on a table in there main meeting room. At my old job, we weren't allowed to have a tournament in the cafeteria after work, and we all had to promise not to tell anyone when a senior employee got into the game.

So, if any of you kids are looking to settle down with a 'regular' job, know that there are a whole lot really smart, really rich people out there, who will see "professional poker player" on the resume, and be excited to interview you.

I was building it up nice on 5/10NL and 10/20NL after getting owned by Dmitri Nobles at the WSOP Main Event.

Everything was good back then.
Just until November 06 when everything collapsed.

Still good but different these days.

As I was writting this I was thinking that last year I had just missed the WCOOP before getting into MTTs but then I realized that last year I did play the WCOOP and I was thinking of 2 years ago. That makes me really [censored] old.

~I was playing the stuper and only the stuper every night because it was a school night.
~Took ~30th in the $530 NLHE event #2 WCOOP, started a -20k downswing
~I had never played a live tournamnet

Now
~I never play, still school nights, have no ambition.
~Played 1 WCOOP event so far. It was the $530, did terrible. Started a +______ swing.
~played some live tournys, 2 FTs, 1 TVFT.

Last year: roll was about 50K after cashing for 43K in the WSOP. Also, coming right off my ME run, I won a 50K satellite that bought me into 3 WPT events + 5K cash. I thought I was on my way...

[/ QUOTE ]

kramer, what happened in those events? did you play all of them? sell the seats? fail to cash?

[/ QUOTE ]

Played in all 3 of them (it was 2 Borgata 10K events and the Bellagio 15K event). Went 0 for 3 in them, depsite being 7th in chips headed into Day 2 of the 2nd Borgata one. Good experience though and glad I had the opportunity to play so many WPT events last year. The quetion is now... will I ever make it back?

Last year: Sold 75% of myself in the dubCOOP HORSE, got 47th, +$800. Huge cash for me.

This year: A nice 70% ROI on "other games", only sold 50%, got my ticket from points, and looking to borrow a little Gobbo money so I can final table. Whataya say, gobster? I can pay you back right after.
