Is there any punishment for this? What happens to the guy who actually got into his account?

You can't very well go ask a D.A. to file charges for someone hacking into your online gaming account when the account itself is illegal if you are a U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. You'd get laughed at and maybe harassed. Right now all U.S. online players are doing so at our own risk. If we get ripped off we have no one we can go to. He'll be banned from Pokerstars and that's all. |

why doesn't someone just incorporate a 2 password system.
i.e. when you log in, you have to type in pw1 and pw2 at the same time. if you got either password wrong, you wouldn't log in, but you wouldn't know if you got pw1, pw2, or both wrong. wouldn't this make it exponentially harder to hack? |

[/ QUOTE ] Ya, I wouldn't be surprised if they would prosecute..Just because your activity is questionable doesn't mean stealing from that should be. A game was robbed at gunpoint (shots fired) in my hometown a couple years ago. Luckily I took that night off, anyway, the cops were called and they had no problem prosecuting the thieves and no charges were ever brought against anyone involved in the game, and if I remember correctly the money was even returned. I know its apples and oranges, but still.... http://www.boiseweekly.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=153022 |

I can already hear pro-ban politicians saying, "pokerstars couldn't even protect one of their highest profile players, how are they going to protect the average american?". |
