I see what's happening. Party changed how the text is displayed. I'll have to fix the parser, that will get done tonight.

Sixth Sense is still opening a growing number of postgres.exe processes (indirectly)

Is this fixable?

[/ QUOTE ]

That is normal, its just how postgres works. I believe it spawns a new process for every connection.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, but why get a new connection for each search? Just grab one connection and use that. PAHud and Pokertracker don't open a new connection for each search.

[/ QUOTE ]

OK, I just looked at it, and there is a bug somewhere. Either I'm not properly closing the connection, or the driver isn't, because too many are sticking around.

Thanks, I'll fix this in the next release.

I too have noticed like a dozen postgres.exe instances, and never thought twice about it...but now ppl in this thread are asking for that to be "fixed", and Ben acknowledged it was a "bug" -- can i ask the naive question: what's the effect if multiple such .exe processes are spawned, and why is that undesirable?
Party has been crashing a TON on me lately, and I'm wondering if this has something to do with it...

The more copies that are running, the more resources are taken up. Open up your task manager, and look at the performance tab. If the "Total Commit Charge" is greater than your "Total Physical Memory", it will stress our your system, and could lead to crashes.

Restarting Sixth Sense *should* remove any unneeded postgres instances, but I haven't tested this.

I just finished putting the fix in, so tables are starting to show up now for Party. Will take 5 more mins until they are all refreshed.

Do I have to have datamined extensively to make this a useful purchase?

I don't know about "extensively", but yes, you need data. Sixth Sense is worth nothing without any data. The more data you have the more valuable it is.

I would say it is somewhat valuable with just the data you get from playing, but its significantly more valuable with "data mined" data. The whole point is to find fish across a wide range of tables, and that takes a fair amount of data.

Once you have a lot of data, Sixth Sense is incredibly valuable. Good Table Selection can double your win rate. See the research on our site, and check our forums for the "Sixth Sense Challenge".

About the Sixth Sense Challenge:
[ QUOTE ]

This program lets you see for yourself how powerful Sixth Sense really is. It does this by going back to games you have already played, scoring those games with our unique Fish Score, and generating a report that shows your winnings based on the good tables (high fish scores) and bad tables (low fish scores).
