I agree Devin, I really got confused as to how he could play 88 like that, but his numbers over 120 hands seemed TAG to me ... PFR 16%, VPIP 21%, AF 2.4

This is probably a no-brainer but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com

SB ($32.40)
jb ($57.55)
UTG ($25)
MP ($25.40)
CO ($26.30)
Button ($34.30)

Preflop: jb is BB with 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
3 folds, Button raises to $0.75, SB calls $0.65, jb calls $0.50.

Flop: ($2.25) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, jb bets $2

Button is 13/6/1.5 over 60

Can I risk c/r on this board or is it better to just play straightforward? I didn't think the buttons AF was high enough to ensure he would c-bet, especially 3-way.

Yea, he may have just mixed it up a bit. Or, 120 hands isn't a lot. I just played a session where I thought a guy was simply a tagfish. But, as we played more and more hands, I just realized he was a terrible semi-lag preflop and calling station postflop.

He was my favourite type though, called a lot of c-bets and folded to a lot of 2nd barrels.

cleinen, fold to that flop raise all day.

As played, i probably call the river, but i hate getting there.

pretty much exactly what i typed before i saw this post

I leaned towards folding the flop but talked myself into calling with back door outs. After the check check on the turn it all seemed weird

Villain was 35/15/1 30 hands

BB ($7.70)
UTG ($26.70)

Turn: ($12.35) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, jb checks.

River: ($12.35) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, jb...?

Do I need to bet the river for value here? Based on the preflop and flop action, I can't figure out what he can call with that doesn't have me beat.

I checked behind the turn hoping to get value on the river from KQ or QQ, then the Q hit the board.

(I guess I could have gotten value from KQ by betting the turn.)

Bet the the turn. I'd check behind on the river usually. Unless guy is real bad, then I'd put in a small value bet.

I checked behind and he showed a set of 5's. At first I thought, "wonderful, I did great to lose so little," but then I realized after looking at the hand I was probably being results oriented and giving up value in the long run.

However, one thing I've noticed so far at NL25 is that even most of the loose players don't call a 3-bet anywhere near as often as they should. They usually have a pair > TT or AK when they do so when he called my flop bet I got a little nervous and decided to play the turn for pot control and value bet the river. (Well, until the Q fell anyway.)
