This needs to be noted again. The DL takes full advantage of that stadium(and whatever Polian does to it).

Right you keep asserting that, and because I can read I've got it, but you listed the teams the Colts have played that weren't good (and you're right), but on the NE side, the only good teams they've played have been IND and DAL, and what the hell, WASH. The bad teams that NE is playing are VERY bad.

What's the disconnect here. I suppose I should ask outright, how much worse would the COlts have done had they played NE's schedule.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well first of all you're ignoring 5-3 Cleveland, who is a decent team, and 4-4 Buffalo, who probably isn't as good as their record, but isn't "horrible" by any stretch of the imagination.

The only "horrible" teams the Pats have played are the Bengals, Jets and Dolphins.

From a strictly DVOA perspective, Indy is 16th in past schedule and the Pats are 19th.

Edit: And I'm pretty sure from a MOV perspective, the Pats opponents MOV has been larger than the Colts' opponents' MOV going into this week.

Even though the Pats won, this game proved that they are beatable. It makes it more interesting for every other team.

[/ QUOTE ]

What are you crazy? The colts needed 150 yrds in penalties (many bad calls and several bad no calls). The pats are beatable if something goes horribly wrong outside of their control.

[/ QUOTE ]
The Colts had there starting LT, two WRs injured and didn't score in the redzone.

[/ QUOTE ]

the lopsided officiating balanced out the injury factor

they also have a gigantic hfa

[/ QUOTE ]
RedBean made a good post about the penalties. Stuff like Wayne's drop while it was a lack of execution were also unlucky. It is dumb when people try and balance these things out the injuries hurt the Colts, the penalties hurt the Patriots, but they didn't cancel each other out. One was greater than the other. Stuff like Vinateiri's missed FG he probably has like a 1.5-2 point expectancy kicking from there. While it is easy to cancel all this stuff out, they don't balance.

This game was definitely interesting. Should be a lot of fun to see how this plays out.

Colts D-Line played ridiculous, Brady's never been pressured this year like he has today. Great coverage as well. Colts got burnt twice in the 4th quarter, but I thought the colts did a very good job in coverage as well.

Pats D really shut down Manning. Without Harrison, I suppose Clark becomes a lot less of a factor. Credit to Belichick and Rodney Harrison, I think.

Both Maroney and Addai were ridic good in the 1st half, but that stopped in the 2nd. I thought that was pretty interesting.

Patriots have a pretty big edge on Special Teams. That's really the difference, I think.

Here is my interesting stat about the schedules

NE opponents, without the NE game in the stats are +10.36 on Avg Points (Avg PF-Avg PA), IND was +2.94.

Total PF/PA without IND or NE games counted:
NE Opps: 1321 PF / 1256 PA
IND Opps: 1021 PF / 995 PA

[/ QUOTE ]

I have the numbers written down at work, but 10.36 is wayyyyyy off

ok, I think the HFA and penalties were more important than the injuries.

also if Waynes drop is unlucky then Addai going 80 yards on a checkdown play is lucky, since that's not likely to happen again either
