Today is the second time that I moved up to 50nl. And it happened just like my previous experience, down 7 buyins. I guess it's back to 25nl to rebuild again.

Ok, update on my use of the Gelford UBERNIT method:

After having a great weekend (running close to 11 PT BB/100) I wound up dropping 8BI's over about 3k hands when I ran into some issues on Monday night, but I have to chalk up the huge drop in BI's to operator error rather than failure of the method. In a nutshell the things I did wrong Monday were:

1. Table Selection/Knowing When to Quit: Monday night had zero tables worth playing at, I should have found something else to do rather than play cards (like post here [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]). I hit big hands...I just couldn't get paid on them.

2. Opening Up My Hand Range (aka t33lt!): The first couple of BI's I lost to 3-outers. At this point I "tilted" and opened up my range. So in essence I abandoned the Gelford Ubernit Method (I know, blasphemous right?) and cost myself more chips then I needed to.

3. Playing Tired: 3 hours sleep in 48 hours is not enough. Bad judgement, lack of attention span, easily tilted...all bad news.

So I went back to fighting the good fight last night, was able to find a couple of juicy tables, had some opponents hit good cards while I hit better, and made back 4 BI's in about 300 hands. So I am sitting at right about 5PT BB/100. Hopefully I can keep the discipline going and make the 3k debacle a distant memory.

What are your UBERNIT stats at the moment? - I think I am going to start to open up a tiny bit from the BTN/CO and play AJo+,KQo+,98s+ and try to up my stats to about 15/12 - I am calling this the 'Gelford SEMINIT' style.

I think maybe this should eventually be the progression of all new poker players:

UBERNIT (10/8) -> SEMINIT (15/12) -> SEMITAG (17/15) -> SEMILAG (20/17) -> MEGALAG (25/22) -> UBERLAG (30/25)
