love getting baily an AB, not pena. so losing penas bat, yet getting him in the field. i just LOVE baseball managers. and toro.

they showed penas eyes and he was ready to hit a homer btw.

I'm glad you love me Sublime, it's touching. But seriously, I'm still very concerned with our offense. The TB series only distracted us. Sox have scored 2 runs or less in 15 of the last 30 games.

Of course the divison is a near lock, but this doesn't bode well for the playoffs. And going out and geting a bat or two may not be the answer either because they are kind of stuck with Lugo at SS as an automatic out.

Maybe Manny gets some power going in the 2nd half and this becomes moot, hope so.

IT'S JUST VARIANCE RETARD. THE RED SOX ARE PLAYING VERY WELL RIGHT NOW, THEY'RE JUST RUNNING BAD. YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR EqA FROM YOUR ELBOW. THIS TEAM IS GONNA WIN THE WORLD SERIES OBV.

That's actually a pretty accurate statement. They ARE running bad. 6 of their 7 losses have been by 1 run. That's pretty rough.

It's a waste in the sense that if they don't score for a while then do score a run, who closes?

[/ QUOTE ]

Explain to me why pitching with a lead has more pressure than pitching in a tie game where if you let up 1 run you lose game over.

[/ QUOTE ]

Bump.

Seriously, I hear this implication from lots of people and it makes no sense.

Today is black Wednesday, lose 3 vs Det, then sit still for 3 days....argh. I have some Fenway seats next week at cost starting on Sunday, I'm not going to make it home for the games. Any interest out there give me a holla.

Just when I didn't think it was possible to hate this guy any more...

http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/...is-cinco-ocho/

[ QUOTE ]
That's right, the young, talented closer for the Boston Red Sox has given himself a split personality -- Cinco Ocho, or No. 85 for those of you that don't habla ingles. Jonathan Papelbon insists that when he's pitching, it's not kind-hearted, soft-spoken Jonny Pap. It's Cinco Ocho:

Jonathan Papelbon: When I'm out there pitching, it's not Jonathan Papelbon pitching, it's Cinco Ocho pitching. I get a little revved up some times, and Cinco Ocho doesn't know how to control himself when he's out there. We've got a good relationship going on right now with Cinco Ocho, so we'll try and keep it that way. He got a little out of control the other night (Editor's note: When he nearly blew a gasket during this 2-1 win), so we'll see how he does with the All-Star game and things like that.

Gary Tanguay: OK, so a split personality. If you ever have to go in front of the commissioner, that's going to be your explanation. You'll say, "Mr Commissioner, it wasn't me, it was Cinco Ocho."

Papelbon:That's right. I've got the courts behind me. I've got a split personality.
