If we can get 5 good innings from Fogg this team can compete with anyone.

[/ QUOTE ]

Unlike all those MLB teams who could compete with nobody and went 0-162 this season.

Furthermore.. this argument is terrible.

Why pick an NBA game.. no one has gone 0-82 its all 50/50!

Fans pick games.. talk about them.. get excited. Sorry you can't relate to that.

[/ QUOTE ]

The game to game variance in specific matchups is far far far less in the NBA than in baseball.

The Spurs will own the hella out of the Hawks likely some 25 times out of 30 or something.

The <best team in baseball> will own the <worst team> to a MUCH less greater degree. You can pick individual basketball games with a meaningful degree of confidence. You can't do that with baesball.

MyTurn,

Is that a good or bad reflection upon my argument?

Dids,

Betting baseball is by far the most profitable major sport.

Thayer,

Isn't part of that simply because people think things like what's been expressed in this thread and the lines tend to suck/are hard to set?

Dids,

Yes. I would say that they are wrong, while you are both right and wrong.

There is nothing more retarded than picking individual baseball games.

Nothing is more retarded than this actual insight.

I don't see why this has anything to do with anything. In fact, doesn't it just mean that in basketball the lines are much sharper (because of this factor?)

When ytf told us about his great handicapper friend who'd make the line Yankees -155 in the ALCS - I mean, c'mon, who doesn't see potential profit there?

I don't think the lines are hard for the books to set. It would probably be easier than basketball and footbal. The juice is much smaller though, so the books have to be more cautious by not allowing as big of a max bet.

At first I thought he was way off, but after thinking about it, he really isn't. The line is off a bit, and there is some value in the BOS line, but I don't think it is as much as everyone (including myself) thought at first.
