posadas obp is pretty sick, but his overall offensive numbers arent amazing. take this year for example where he is having his best hitting year ever, and he is going to have less hr and less rbi than last year where he hit .277. If he doesnt produce more offensive numbers i dont think hell get in (he shouldnt get in) largely in part bc of joe mauer and victor martinez who is the best catcher baseball, overshadowing him.
and oh ya i dont know how martinez is defensivly but posada allows too many passed balls to be considered for the hall imo... |

Maybe they stopped caring because they know Posada can't throw for poo poo. [/ QUOTE ] pretty sure posada's caught stealing numbers last year were +EV. don't know where to look for it though. unless he's suffered an arm injury there's no reason for the yankees' pitchers to think that. |

the problem is, he has no significant awards and no significant milestones, and even though he was on a lot of championship teams, he wasn't very good in the playoffs. he's not very good in the categories voters look at (0 .300 seasons, 1 30 hr season, 1 100 rbi season), and has a bad defensive reputation. i'd be very suprised if he makes it in, unless his next 3 years are his best.

[/ QUOTE ] He caught 35% last year. No idea where the line is draw on where it because +EV to run on someone, but pretty sure that was +EV for the Yankees. Since 2004 he has done: 2004: 26%, .73sba/g 2005: 28%, 1.04sba/g 2006: 35%, .84sba/g 2007: 20%, 1.03sba/g I'd say that is 1 good year, two bad ones and one terrible one. |

For Posada to get into the HoF, he'd have to be traded to the Suns and win b2b MVPs and make them the most talked about and exciting team to watch in baseball.

OK, let's say he finishes up this year with 20 home runs or so, 95 RBI, .320, and then the next two seasons around 20-80-.290. Will that resume get him into the HOF?

andyfox,
It should. The writers have been pretty good, but who knows if he ends up like Bert seems to be the general feel. He obv doesn't get in if he retires/dies at the end of the season. He needs 2-3 more. But assuming he doesn't just fall off the planet. He should easily get them. |
