Yeah, it's probably all an over-reaction. However, if it's become enough of a problem on SSNL that they're pulled their thread, it could easily happen here. And everything I said about not transferring to people you don't know, and verifying identities should all go without saying, but, apparently it needs to be said because if you read The Zoo, people get scammed all the time.

I'm writing up some instructions with screenshot ect.

Ok i've just created an irc fullring channel for everyone to chat on.

The channels on the quakenet server and here are some instructions on how to get into the chatroom.

Not sure where i should post this so i'll post it here and a mod can move it to it's correct thread.

Step 1 : Download mIRC form http://mirc.orion-hosting.co.uk/mirc621.exe , install the sorfware, then run it

You'll see a small box saying "30 day freetrial" just click continue. The software is free and once the 30day trial ends you just click continue and you can still use it.



Step 2 : After clicking continue you should see the following pop up box. If this dosnt appear for some reason, just click the hammer icon on the toolbar.



Enter your name "dosnt have to be your real name, i think mines "poker"" , email address and the name you want to be known as "probably best if it's your 2+2 name" if your names already in use you'll have to choose another, then choose an alternative.

Now click on servers at the top left side

Step 3 : After you click servers you'll see this box. Click on the add button



Now this box should appear



In the Description box type "FRNL" and then type "irc.quakenet.org" in the IRC Server box, then click add

Step 4: Click on options and tick the "connect on startup" and "reconnect on disconnection" boxes.



Click ok.

Now you have just about every setup to log into the channel.


Step 5: Click the connect button "lightning bolt icon" at the top left corner and you'll begin to connect to the quakenet server, this may take a few seconds depending on your connection speed.

You'll then see this box come up.



Enter "#FRNL" into the box at the top and click join.

You be then connected into the channel.

I think i've written everything needed without mixing anything up, any problems let me know.
