And while I'm at it, I of course have to mention "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", even though it's a series and not a movie [/ QUOTE ] Come on, everyone knows Buffy is the nuts. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, I've heard several people say that they haven't given the show a chance due to the lame name. I must admit to being a bit turned off by it myself, I thought it was something else entirely just by watching a random (one of the lame) episodes on TV and not giving it another chance until much later. |

I've always really liked Behind Enemy Lines. Owen Wilson is generally a pretty awful actor, and probably badly cast here, but I think it's one of the best action movies in recent memory.

When I read the title, the first movie I thought of was The Girl Next Door.

Problem Child ftw. Fair amount of funny moments, kinda heart-warming at the end. Has both John Ritter and Michael Richards right before (or during the early stages of) his run as Seinfeld's Kramer. You can even see some of the Kramerisms emerge as his character, the Bow-tie Killer, "kidnaps" his all-too-willing captive, Junior. Bonus: Michael Richards punching a clown in the face...hilarious!
Also, The Wizard (even though it was mentioned earlier, so I guess someone else liked it). It wasn't "good," but I enjoyed it when I was 8 and I'd probably enjoy it for its various absurdities now. Kids tripling their money by using some mystical craps system in Reno (by proxy of a big black truck driver named Spanky)? Yup. A bounty hunter chasing three kids around the country? This movie's got it. The line "I love the power glove, it's so bad?" Perhaps the best part of said movie. Also, it had a clutch late 80s/early 90s cheesy music soundtrack and a cast of somewhat famous actors...Christian Slater, Fred Savage, Tobey Maguire (either as an extra or a very small role, I forget). I don't really care that it was a 90 minute ad for Nintendo; considering how large a part Nintendo played in my life (and I'd imagine, the lives of many of you reading this) between the ages of 6 and 12, it seems appropriate. |
