My top 5 MC's, in order of preference
1)Nas- Either you agree or you don't. But don't front. He's nice. Perfect flow. Best metaphors. Best Rapper. 2)Tupac- Could murder Jay-Z any day of the week. 3)Jay Z (I give it to Jay over Em because his rhymes are ridic) 4)Em Sickest. F(low. Ever.) 5) Biggie (for some reason I never got into Biggie as much) Fave Groups Wu Tang, Outkast, The Roots, Mobb Deep Also, I think if Common, Mos Def, Immortal Tech, Talib, etc. (underground and quasi underground) rapped about mainstream [censored] they would be off the charts, and considered among the best of rappers. |

Em having the sickest flow? Bleh. And Immortal Technqiue is not a very good rapper. He makes good music. That's about it.

I feel sorry for everyone declaring Jay-Z the best rapper of alltime. The truth is my boy Phonte Coleman of Little Brother, greatest MC alive.

Aceyalone is a serious contender for best pure rapper in terms of freestyle ability and writin skillz. His last couple albums have been a bit meh, but just All Balls Don't Bounce by itself is close to the best 45 minutes of music eva.
Also, anyone who thinks Jay is the best because he is like, 'keepin it real' is missing the point. That's like saying you like some rock band because the bass player has a nice ass. Maybe it's all fiction, maybe it's mostly real, maybe it's all soild truth. Who cares? Music, and all art, exists in a vacuum as a finished product...history is bunk. --GA |

Anyone remember Natural Elements? Underground group from NYC that was around in the late 90's? They were sick lyricists. They had 2 tracks on the original Lyricist
Lounge LP, "Keep Pouring" and "Mayday". |

He never changes his flow, and his raps are either about politics or they revert to the typical battle rap pattern. That being said, when you hear him for the first time he does blow you away. |

Go get the remix of "Everyday Struggle" from the "Blue Eyes Meets Bed-Stuy" album (Biggie lyrics mixed with Sinatra samples). I have probably listened to this track 100 times in the past week.
