So You're Going to Prison

"The human being is an animal with extremely strong self-preservation instincts," Trudeau said. "In this regard, Mr. Kroll's preparatory measures make perfect sense. But while devising emergency plans is understandable, Kroll should realize that no matter how much he prepares, the only thing he can count on in prison is having his creamy white ass churned into butter."

No

Did you miss that story from a while ago where a wannabe cop was turned down because his IQ was too high?

[/ QUOTE ]

No link, but I can give anecdotal evidence. A close friend of mine was turned down by the cops because she was too smart. I don't know why she wanted to be a cop in the first place.

And I guess if it went down like this we don't get the 4Life drama bomb, but I've taken the time to rewrite the OP:

[ QUOTE ]
I wake up at about 3:30pm yesterday and immediately jump in the shower. It's interrupted by a knock at my door, so I jump out get dressed and answer it. It's a detective. I've never met the guy before, but I know exactly who he is. He's the husband to the assistant manager of the apartment complex I live in, and he's got history with some of the people I know.

"There are reports of drug praphernalia, needles, and hard drugs from this apartment. May I search?"

I ask if he has a warrant, and he says "No, I thought we could do this the easy way." I say "You thought wrong," and slam the door in his face.

So BBV, what it do. Can I sue my landlord for harassment?

While obviously the right thing to do, this post would have taught me a lot less about how naive some people can be when it comes to dealing with authority figures.

Where you live can mean a lot though, as where I live now the cops are generally very friendly and will let a lot slide for locals (except some specific things like DUI, Meth and domestic violence cases all for obvious reasons). The other night while taking a midnight rafting trip my friends happened to stop for a break right near a couple cops who heard us getting out of the river and came to see what was up. We were all not that sober, but none of us was too hammered either. We talked with them for a minute, they recommended that we not continue our journey, but said to do what we wanted and have fun. In other places I have lived we probably all would have been in jail for the weed that we had on us. These guys couldn't have been bothered to check if we had any despite the fact that one of the guys with us recently spent several months in the local jail for drug charges. Also, this is probably the nicest jail in existence that isn't a rich persons jail that the inmates have to pay to stay in.

But again, this is in a very small resort town where locals can get away with a lot. If I lived anywhere else I certainly wouldn't expect a friendly conversation and a have a nice night any time a cop showed up unannounced.

I'm the one you're arguing with, remember, but no, blarg most certainly does not believe the onion is real.
