Re: The San Diego Fires
See check this out. All of the written stuff still has north of the 56, west of the 5 evacuated. They also are talking about more evacuations near the coast, but then I see these different maps, including this one that was just posted on signonsandiego that shows they changed the line a little north.
So, if you lived in the southwest corner near the 56 and 5, would you go home right now? http://media.signonsandiego.com/fires/ |

Re: The San Diego Fires
Well, if I listened to SOME news stations BS, I would probably be miserable at the Q, or going from friend's house to friend's house, dragging my family, my dogs, etc. What a pain.
I am still in Poway, still not under mandatory evacuation, still under no immediate threat. I think the information dissemination by news stations has been really, really bad in general. |

Re: The San Diego Fires
We're in the SW corner here (Del Mar Heights rd) and we're home right now. I just looked at the most recent map, and based on the scale the closest fire is 4 miles off with a country club (buffer?) in between http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&a...mp;ll=33.000602,-117.111511&spn=0.845366,1.672668&z=10& om=1

What's it like in downtown San Diego, is the air just very smokey? [/ QUOTE ] yes it is smokey, but not VERY smokey. in fact, it doesn't seem as bad down here as it was 4 years ago. |

Re: The San Diego Fires
They are letting people back into Poway that were previously evacuated. The skies are also clearing. Looks like it's pretty much over for most of the Poway area, barring a flareup or something.
My friend in Jamul though is not so lucky. The flames are pretty close, and they are under mandatory evacuation. |

Re: The San Diego Fires
[ QUOTE ]
oh yeah, I remember last night looking at a map online somehwere that didn't even have the 56 freeway finished on the map. So they were using a map that was at least 4 years old, but it was actually quite detailed and you could zoom in and out of it. [/ QUOTE ] That's the google maps satellite view. I use the crap out of that, it's pretty slick. Weird that the image is four years old though, my experience is that they're at least a couple of years dated but not that bad. Also, why is it called the Ted Williams freeway or whatever? Is he from there or went to college there or something? I'm blanking on this. |
