re: does this guy really have an inheritance

Even the thought that that could be credible, even one brain cell saying 'it could be true', is why all the scammers from the Nigerians to Amarillo Slim have better crap/toys than I do.

First of all, I think you guys gotta realize that Justin Smith or what ever his name is is one of about 100 people who do this for a living in Vegas (male and female) the only diffenrence between Smith and a prostitute is that Micon didnt get to bang Mr. Smith before he paid him.

If you have been around poker rooms, casinos or nightclubs/strip joints here in town, these people are easy to spot. Usually they are people who arrived in town with money, balled out of control, made a ton of great connections while they were handing out c-notes like Jimmy Conway, then shortly thereafter busted themselves out by buying $500 bottles of Grey Goose followed by 4am sessions of craps/hookers/blow in the penthouse.

They tried to get normal jobs at first, but $200 bucks a day bartending at PTs wasnt allowing them to live the baller lifestyle so they start borrowing money from people. He plays over his bankroll trying to make enough to support his balla lifestyle and keeps busting himself, menaing he needs to borrow more. But the debts are adding up and the lenders want to get paid. So he "borrows" from someone else to pay the original lender but now he owes someone else, so as he runs out of lenders, he hangs out with really rich people and falsifies his personal avatar to raise his credit/borrowing power.... you see where this is going. But the main thing to realize is that this person probably doesnt even know that he or she has become in fact, a con artist.

Banks call it floating checks and this is the way these Vegas "ballers" operate and always seem like they have a lot of money.

This case between Micon and Smith gave me deja-vu (up until the internet harassment) because Ive been burned by this type of scam not once BUT TWICE!! The first time for $3500 by a guy who was actually a pretty good 30-60LHE/$1000NLH player who partied out of his means (hookers and blow every night) and the 2nd time for $5000 (bellagio flag) by a stripper who I had been "dating" for two weeks. But at least she had gainful employment to base her credit score on..lol That one was just dirty because a day I gave her the chip to cash and bring me back the change (she was staying at my place for over a week) I went to her house later in the day looking for my scrill and soem old lady answered the door and told me that she moved away as she slammed the door in may face. I went to the Horse looking for her and they said that she had left for Hawaii..

By the way the way the first guy I still see around town. AT first I was really persistent about trying to collect and kept getting the runaround. As I was contemplating turning to threats and violence I started to notice some of the people he hung out with and lets just say they were some of the city's rougher crowd. So the way one friend put it, "well it cost you 7 dimes, but you never have to deal with that scumbag for the rest of your life."

So you always want to be careful in this area, because it can take on a mafia-type dynamic. Smart con artists will surround themselves with "protection" if ya know what I mean.

I've had alot of encounters in this city with alot of different people so at this point Ive been out here almost 9 years. When I got here I got rolled twice, busted out a few times, didnt know a girl I was talking to was a hooker after 30 minutes of convo, etc. There's a learning curve in being a Vegas local poker player and I think Micon and Druff are getting a nice dose of reality here.

I think you took it over the line a little bit by putting up all the internet stuff. I know it feels like garbage and you want to kick yourself for being scammed out of your money, but if it were me, I be even more angry at myself for letting that situation happen in the first place. You're busted right now, but there's no shame in that. Every poker player I know has been busted a hundred times, some just know how to hide it better than others.

Lessons have been learned and now you are a little more street wise. You're gonna need those street smarts if you plan on staying out here rounding, kid. This town is unforgiving and these grifters will get what's coming to them sooner or later. They'll scam the wrong person and that will be he end of them here.

With this guy, it seems like he's actually gonna try and pay, but there's good and bad news to that. To me the good news does not come close to fading the bad news. The good news is that you might get your 12 dimes back. The bad news is now you have a mortal enemy in this town who knows a lot of people.

You guys are supposed to be good poker players so you should have thought about what the bets would look like on the turn and river of this situation. This guy pobably takes care of everyone at Scores and Red Rock so rpobably not a good idea to go there. You guys want to make your lives out of poker, which means you'll be in Vegas for a lot of years to come. Just start playing chess instead of checkers because Vegas is the most political city in the world.

The fact that this guy seems genuinely concerned about his reputation makes me think that he's not really a professional scammer, just some degenerate who has gotten in over his head and borrowed money he can't pay back.

[/ QUOTE ]

I could also see this being true. There could be a few reasons why this guy is so irate. First no one wants to be made a laughingstock on youtube.

Secondly, if he really is a conman, his cover is blown and now he will have to get a real job that cannot support his balla lifestyle

Third, now when people see him out, they know that he has no monies like he projected himself having=harder to get laid by hot girls.

wow...i just saw the child predator video on youtube...wow. Did Micon post it?? Is it true?? . If it isnt true then someone has crossed the line. Not that calling this douche a pedophile makes me angry,, posting a child's picture who isnt involved is wrong..(and slightly illegal if you have a good lawyer) (not that J.Smith can afford one). If he has been convicted of a crime against children then please let us know (so we can hate him for a real reason) otherwise lets leave the innocent kids outta this.
