boy did i ever learn the hard way not to talk about poker to non-poker players...told my 60 yr-old neighbors about the game and now they think im some degenerate that's gonna lose his house and career because now I have a "gambling problem." I mean, how much longer do we have to live with these societal [censored] taboos.....burn in hell bill frist, burn in hell.

my gf is cool with poker, she has her worries, but she trusts me and knows how i treat it.

last night, out to dinner with her parents and her dad asks me if i have a job.

"no, i havnt had a job for a while...but i support myself playing poker"

and then we get into a discussion for a bit. it was actually pretty cool and i thought i did a damn fine job describing exactly what i did and the game some. he actually asked good questions, not stupid ones, which most non-players do...and didn't seem aghast that his daughter was dating a "poker player" (i'm in school for social work, wanna do international work upon graduation)...which they know.

anyways, he is a minister too...he wants me to teach him how to play sometime.

score.

Universal truth: People, who don't play poker, don't have a clue about poker. It is just amazing how ridicolous things I hear over and over again. Especially in Europe, where poker is not such a known thing and people don't even know you can play poker on the internet for real money. They don't have a clue about it.

First of all: They think I am a luckbox when I say I earn money that way. I am sick of telling them that it is all skill because they don't believe me. I don't think even my mum who is fine with me playing poker (and I am very lucky I have that kind of mum - I am a luckbox in that way) believes me. So I just say that I am the luckiest man in the world, that I am a luckbox, I hit a lot of cards... My strategy is to raise preflop and hit a flop in a big way. If they believe me, so be it, if they see I am making fun of them, then so be it.

And everytime I say I earned like 1000$ yesterday, they say - how much you are up now? It is so sick how clueless people are: my friend lost 200$ playing roulette in casino and his friends thought he was sick and were sad for him... Man, if I lose 200$ in one day, I say I am break even.

So - don't even try to explain people that it is all skill and that you won't lose your house and go broke - because they won't believe you!

Just felt like talking a bull**** here. Excuse me.

The trick is to not make a big deal about it.

Random Girl: "Cwar I heard you make mad dollars playing poker, how do you do it?"
Cwar: "Magic."
Random Girl: "..."
Cwar: "Wanna sleep with me?"
Random Girl: "OK."

my biggest problem is my wife....she can see that I've made 100K in cards, but she still hates the [censored] game and bitches about the time i spend at it. last night we had a huge fight and now i cannot play that much next week.
Basically she gives me 3 nights a week to play but last night she went out and i fired up a $22 game just for kicks and she came home early and caught me. now my dumb ass doesnt get to play tuesday night at all. that will cost me at least 500 bucks.

im so [censored] sick of being persecuted for poker. i mean, all these dumb ass guys i work with drop 350 bucks a week on golf and its ok to society for them to have such a money-pit hobby and I am somehow a degen for bringing in 2K/week with my [censored] hobby.

Now I know what it feels like to be black or gay or whatever and constantly have to deal with discrimination. ITs a bitch.
