Re: STTF SNG->cash thread
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I thought it was just a number like how much money they put in say like 50 bucks or something. So if they played like 30 hands and put in like 30 bucks they are loose? How come the thread is so wide? [/ QUOTE ] VPIP is a percentage (obviously out of 100) Your tracking program will look at the x many hands that the player has played. It then counts the number of times that player has voluntarily put money into the pot - this is simply a question of frequency, not of how much. It then takes the number of times a player has put money into the pot, and divides that by the number of hands played. Eg, if a player has played 100 hands, and they have put money into the pot 25 times: 25/100 = 25% [/ QUOTE ] How many hands the opponent has to play before I can start using them to tell if they are loose or not? Josem you are awesome =0. [/ QUOTE ] I have mine filtered for 20 hands. But, that's still not really usefull. You still need to be using observation combined with the stats to know if they are loose or not. [/ QUOTE ] Josem's reply is good, this thread does the Bayesian maths - 20 hands is probably to high ... http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...=0#Post10933141 |

Re: Folded KK preflop
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] One possible train of thought with a check/minraise is a mediocre hand looking for a cheap showdown. [/ QUOTE ] Check raising out of position in an attempt to showdown cheaply?? I knew they shouldn't have given you Californians access to medicinal marijuana [/ QUOTE ] Well, the thinking would be checking first and then the raise as part of hoping to show down cheap. I dunno, but I though of that when someone min-raised me on the turn with A3 on a AT44 board. I had AQ and called the minraise and then I didn't bet the river. If he had just called I would have bet the river, so in this case he saved money over calling me down. Being in or out of position does make a difference here, but once you make someone suspicious that they just might have a really big hand you might get them to play more passively. |

Re: getting myself into trouble again
dipstick
First decision - BB is lag donk, so maybe he'll raise. Maybe you are taking something BB is doing personally. Don't try to play every hand with a lag donk. Pick your spots well - don't be troubled if he pushes you out of a pot or two, it will encourage him - and you will be very likely to eventually get his stack. Second decision - closing the action here, yeah, can't fold. Third decision - very bad reasoning. You think you are behind CO, but ahead of BB so you are hoping BB the lag donk will bluff out CO and leave you standing with the best hand? Fourth decision - You're throwing your $12.65 away (in your opinion) for some chance at the $13.75 extra you can get from BB? Ok though, you have a gutshot now, but on the other hand you aren't closing the action and BB is crazy right? Your gutshot is also going to be a split pot a lot of the time. Fifth decision - If you think you are ahead of BB and will get called then push. I wouldn't be so sure you are ahead of him though. Has his donkishness consisted of these small bets? If he's been betting big a ton and now he's betting small, he might have a big hand. Donks get big hands too. Is that enough berating? |

Re: getting myself into trouble again
Villain in this hand is Creat!ve, 22/19/5 ~1k hands, def good and v. aggro. He views me as v. aggro and during this session i have been 3-betting a ton, and firing 2nd and 3rd barrels a lot, no one has looked me up on any table he is on. This is the 3rd orbit in a row i have opened his BB, and i have won both others w/o showdown. Any thoughts appreciated
