wang + hughes + petite + some FAs, the future is bright now and i definitely wouldnt have said that a couple years ago. No way does hughes get traded, i dont see how anyone could say thats likely given the direction the team/cashman has been going in.

i don't think cashman would go for zambrano. sure, he is a sick pitcher, but what makes you think he will fit in ny, or on this team? yankees already have a lot of characters, and it's all about keeping those characters in check.

i would not mind signing santana for 5+ yrs though.

i know that he is only 28yo, and clemens set the market at $25M+ per year, but there's virtually noone who can pay this except for the yankees. red sox may be willing to, though they've locked themselves into the matsuzaka contract, and most moves they make seem frugal rather than frivolous (manny and dice-k notwithstanding).

santana could be a steal at $20M. btw, who is his agent?
