Anyone in a league that starts *2* TEs? Where should Gates go in such a format?

Actually, my league is totally weird. 8 teams, start 2 QB/3 RB/3 WR/2 TE/1 DEF/2 K. All TDs worth 6, PPR, each completion and each rush attempt = 0.5 point as well. With 2 QB and 2 TE in the lineup and the quirky scoring system, it was tough to rely on most cheatsheets. How'd I do?

1. (2) Steven Jackson
2. (15) Rudi Johnson
3. (18) Drew Brees
4. (31) Antonio Gates
5. (34) Cadillac Williams
6. (47) Roy Williams
7. (50) Terrell Owens
8. (63) Todd Heap
9. (66) Braylon Edwards
10. (79) Brandon Jackson
11. (82) Alex Smith
12. (95) Laveranues Coles
13. (98) Marion Barber III
14. (111) Santonio Holmes
15. (114) J.P. Losman
16. (127) Miami D
17. (130) Jason Elam
18. (143) Olindo Mare
19. (146) Leon Washington

I knew there were several mediocre owners in my league, and tried to keep my first several picks on the conservative side knowing that a lot of good players would slip.

Plugging in your settings... Gates should have been pick #18. Heap #42. In the top 30, all but 8 are RBs.... that .5 per rushing attempt + starting 3 RBs makes them super important.

Just because no one else realizes his value doesn't make it a bad decision to pick him. He has to be worth at least 40-50 pts over the 2nd TE. That is a huge difference by pick 20.

[/ QUOTE ]

He could have picked up a WR or RB that will outscore one of his roster players by more than 3pts/game.

LOL. There were like 5 players in the league worth that much more then the next guy at their position last year.

I'm not like super huge on Gates this year, just I was very sure he wouldn't be available when he came back to me and felt it was the best value at that spot.

cpl thoughts thayer

I hate taking lj there, but I don't like "reaching" for gore or addai there either.

gonna agree w/everyone on trying to wheel gates in the 3rd. Not against taking gates there, but as the guy who always took gates a little early last year, I'm not sure he's quite worth it.

like the chris brown flier at the end, don't like ahman prefer a cpl other options at the assend of the starting rb pool

That doesn't really matter. You don't base your picks on that alone... and if you did you should have drafted Manning with your first. OMG YOU MISSED OUT ON SUCH GREAT VALUE OMFG.

You only start 1 TE.... what don't you understand?

TO/Wayne/Harrison/CJ/Steve Smith will outscore Muhammad by 100 pts. Then, in the 10th-12th round you can grab Winslow/Davis/Cooley/whoever who will only be outscored by 20-40pts.

Oh, and I hope you know that Gates only outscored Crumpler/Gonzalez by like 25pts. Your format doesn't do anything but devalue TEs.

Just did a 10 man draft on Yahoo, QB/2RB/3WR/W/R/TE/K/D. There was a big run on RBs and I didnt really think most teams would take one for each of the first 3 rounds but whatever. How does this team look though?

1(1)- LT
2(20)- Steve Smith
3(21)- Marvin Harrison
4(40)- Duece
5(41)- Boldin
6(60)- J. Jones
7(61)- Ahman Green
8(80)- Kitna
9(81)- Vernon Davis
10(100)- DeAngelo Williams
11(101)- Greg Jennings
12(120)- Denver D
13(121)- Drew Bennett
14(140)- Jacksonville D
15(141)- Brandon Marshall
16(160)- Eli Manning

Round 3 is where I think I messed up, I lost my internet during round 2 and came back just in time to take Smith so I didnt get to check out the RBs that good. Still on the board were Edge, Portis, Lynch, Jones and Cadillac. I would have liked to take one of them but I thought one might fall back to my next pick.

I also wanted a better backup QB but Leinart and Cutler were taken just before my pick and I wasnt to big on anyone after that. Also need a kicker so I might just drop Manning until I need him for the bye week.

I like to rotate Defense but I dont really know if its worth keeping a roster spot to do that.

Any thoughts on how to make this look better?

I hate, hate, hate the #3 pick this year.(#3-6 for that matter).

A good thing going about LJ is he has a very easy matchup in week 1. I'm hoping I can use that and deal him before week 2.

blue, you're underrating the collapse risk of those TE's and underrating gates's baseline.

Davey- McAllister and J.Jones went MUCH later in my draft... I rather have taken a true #1 RB on a team or someone with higher upside, since you already have LDT consistently putting up great numbers. I like Kitna a lot, I wasn't thrilled when he was taken earlier than I expected. DeAngelo Williams is a nice pick as is Eli in the last round.

#1 pick is so rigged
