I guess my point is that the overproduction from Lowell, Youk, Pedroia, Okerjeemer, Tavarez kinda cancels it out. [/ QUOTE ] lowell- EqA .279 2006 = EqA .269 if you recall correctly he was v good 1st half last year and sucked 2nd half. considering that trend (as it has occured for a bit now i think, and he is older) its not like hes playing out of his mind good. pedroia- EqA- .288 PECOTA projected a .277 EqA for this season, but based upon what they expect from him in the future .288 is far from being lucky. hes just good. nate has been saying he will be good for 2 years now. its not 'luck' just because hes outperforming your expectations (whatever they were). [ QUOTE ] Youk [/ QUOTE ] same as above. when a 28 year old who walks a ton starts hitting for more power, its not really luck. its development and/or player peak. [ QUOTE ] Okerjeemer, [/ QUOTE ] no argument here. he has been better than anybody could have expected and its hard to see him being that good going forward. [ QUOTE ] Tavarez [/ QUOTE ] i mean hes not been awful, but hes hasnt been anything great either. his k/9 bb/9 arent anything out of where his career norms have been, hes leaving a normal amount of runners on base, and hes keeping the ball on the ground. basically hes been a very poor mans version of CM wang. i dont see LUCK here.....perhaps he was better suited to start his whole career? who knows. he is also benefitting from a good defense up the middle for the red sox. as awful as lugo has been at the plate, hes a good defensive SS. i mean good in the real sense, not the crap that jeter gets awarded for. pedroia seems to be a above average defensive 2B also. not shocking when he came up as a SS. youkiliis and lowell appear to be average at worst also. helps a ton when myou put the ball on the ground a lot. now when you look at the opposite side of the debate, the UNLUCKY guys....its hard to not see that guys like ramirez, lugo, crisp, and drew have not been where they 'should' be considering the rather large sample sizes that say they are good to great MLB hitters. sorry, you are wrong. i am right. that is all |

Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
btw i can admit deafet on pena. hes just not gonna do good things for this team. he needs to be ona team where he can hit 5-6 days a week. plus ellsbury being on the bench and getting 1-2 starts a week would pwn. an outfield (in late innings) of him, crisp and drew is just sick good.
