Um a lot of the people complaining about downswings in this thread have been playing straight up awful poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

lol if you think you could play your A game after breaking even for 90 something K hands

[/ QUOTE ]

Guess its not a downswing then.

[/ QUOTE ]

it's more complicated. You can feel like you're playing tilt-free and good poker , but your confidence / creativity / instincts are just dulled just and you cant really do anything about it.

To change the subject to upswings: I just won 3k in 45 mins playing 2/4 and 3/6.

Playing bad too: semibluffing guys who call a pfr/bet/3bet with TPNK, giving a free turn to a gutshot than filling up my turned two pair, bet/calling a river shove with a straight on a paired board, potting instead of shoving the nuts versus second nuts, flop checking AA to QQ letting him pot control once and check through river 4 straight to avoid stacking off, etc.

Plus people know you aren't winning and come after you. Ability to make plays that would work with a good image goes out the window.

Probably one of my biggest tilt issues is playing long sessions with a horrible image, even if I'm not officially tilting yet.

Sure I'm not the only one.

I'm currently down a couple buyins after 100k hands.

geshhhhhh you play pretty good, but yeah I am not quite on a 100k downswing but I very well could be if [censored] doesnt change at 5/10.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks snake... it's not much fun to say the least, especially when I've been trying to take more shots at 10/20 heh.

you should know that 95K breakeven hand streaks are possible for a winning player .. also we've seen graphs from HEK and equal demonstrating this.

[/ QUOTE ]

Possible, not likely

If I was down 20 BI in my last 50k hands I couldn't imagine being as ignorant as you.

Think that was DJ Sensei.

[/ QUOTE ]

I dont think i was the one who said it first, but i do believe it.

I think i've had several 10 buyin downswings while playing well, and a 20 buyin one that probably involved bad play.

the thing thats really important is how big your edge is. if you have a small edge you can have huge swings, if you have a big edge you wont.

reef - from what i've seen of you at the stars 3/6 games lately you haven't been playing well. if you want to get out of this current "downswing" i suggest dropping a level or two to get your game back.
