Re: The Well: N 82 50 24 (10.03.07)
Do you think having an understudy that could fill in for you at events you don't want to go to is more baller than having an assistant?

Hrmm, not sure what you mean by fill in for me, but it does sound pretty baller IMO.

Re: The Well: N 82 50 24 (10.03.07)
An understudy/fill in is a term derived from stage-acting, where the main cast has and "understudy" that's ready to step in and perform if the starting actor is sick or unable to act because they are drunk.
In this situation you would have a person that would go to business meetings, social gatherings etc that you were unable to attend, and basically be an actor portraying you. I guess I would be a bad candidate sice I'm so much shorter and it would get kinda obvious, but if I ever win the lotto I'm getting an understudy for weddinng ceremonies(not receptions obv), church, and GA meetings. |

I'm pretty sure I never do anything so important that anyone would really care if I was/wasn't there.

Why do the party updates take so long?/When will it be fully updated? [/ QUOTE ] The reason they take so long is that BLUFF never wrote their own collection program for Party. I still use the old one that graydot wrote. So the process for Party is the following: 1) Import into our old db, run a missing id report on the BLUFF db 2) Export into XML format that will parse into BLUFF's db 3) Download XML files to my computer 4) ZIP em up and login to the BLUFF computers 5) After the transfer finishes, put them into the unprocessed folder on the BLUFF machines. The whole process takes like an hour from start to finish. If I was motivated enough, I would write a program to do almost all of those steps in one shot. But for right now, it's easier to do it like once a month. The reality is that we never have gotten much traffic from Party players, even when we did updates daily. At some point, I'll find the time to make it faster and/or BLUFF will make their own scraper for it (like they did for BD, AP, Stars, FTP and UB). |

[ QUOTE ] What are you three best ideas for websites/poker products that you'll never have time to carry out? [/ QUOTE ] Well, the ones I wouldn't have time for aren't very good. But I think *good* versions of the following would be helpful/profitable in some way: 4) This one is REALLY hard to do, but... a busted tees-style site with poker t-shirts is a monster business waiting to happen. The problem is that all poker t-shirts out there at the moment are retarded. And the classical concept of a "funny" poker t-shirt is also retarded -- no one thinks another line about "donkeys" or "but they were suited" is funny. But if a bunch of really funny and creative people made funny poker t-shirts, I think the market is out there. [/ QUOTE ] These guys have some pretty nice stuff. http://www.highsocietyapparel.com |
