Re: What are your all time favorite announcers\' calls?
A couple from the Bay Area, I listened to both of these live:
Bill King calling the Holy Roller play (Forward to the 11:00 mark of the recording.) Those who heard him do basketball consider him the best play by play man that sport has ever seen. Joe Starkey calling The Play Those of us who have to suffer through his work as the 49ers play by play man might cringe, but this was classic. |

Re: What are your all time favorite announcers\' calls?
I think this is disgusting being from Minnesota, but I figured Microbob would like this one being a hockey fan and former announcer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnRfpcc3LZA Oh, and my favorite alltime was Gene Larkin's hit to LF in GM 7 of the 1991 World Series, "The Twins are gonna win the World Series" (Gladden jumps with both feet onto home plate and is mobbed) "The Twins have won it!!" Goosebumps to this day just thinking about it. |

Re: What are your all time favorite announcers\' calls?
schwatt - That might be the worst goal-call in the history of hockey in one of the sport's greatest moments ever.
And I personally had some really bad ones and am glad those guys perhaps wrestled the title away from me. It reminds me of a high-school playoff game I did when I was 21 when I was screaming only slightly more subdued and legibly than that at the miracle finish. I was really embarassed by it. The school and town were replaying our call of the big win for weeks afterward so evidently the town itself didn't seem to mind. |

Bill Raftery's "Send it in, Jerome!" I want to say I saw this one live, but I'm not positive. Either way, it never loses its coolness. [/ QUOTE ] Jerome Lane's Dunk |

Al Michaels, "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!" [/ QUOTE ] Winner. Perfectly captured the moment. |
