I dont get all the hate for these PUA types. If it's helping nerds pull roots, then whats the problem?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because the hating nerds/disbelievers at 2p2 think that they are smarter, funnier, better educated, maybe wealthier, better-looking, in better physical shape [some], and yet they can't get the time of day from a really hot girl in a club, whereas some of the dorks on the show/PUAs will be getting phone numbers, going out with, and having relationships with good-looking women.

Many guys/2p2ers would rather be 'themselves' [i.e. boring] and alone than realize that they need to be a little more introspective and make changes in who they are if they want to attract somebody worth attracting, or at least obtain some decent social skills.
Some are simply too scared to talk to a woman, others merely jealous of anyone else's success.

[/ QUOTE ]

No kidding. Amen brother.

If someone told these guys that they were a peice of (deleted) would they still be praising 'being themselves'?

What if chicks told them, dude your a loser! whould they still be shouting how it's good to 'be themselves'?

What if their boss gave them bad evaluations and pointed out a bunch of defects that make them bad employment material, would they be running around shouting how they are gonna 'be themselves' and why that is good?

Change can be a very, very good thing. If anyone disagree's with this I would assert they are most probably very foolish.

I was under the impression that this PUA stuff is about getting pussy, not a relationship. Are you really planning on meeting the love of your life by being a dick to her when you first meet?

"So how did you and Eric meet?"
"He told me to buy him a drink. I was instantly in looooove."

[/ QUOTE ]

Who cares? I was a PUA before meeting my wife. I banged 2 different girls (both one night stands) the weekend I first met my wife. Now I am married and love my wife.

The point is to meet girls and progress into some kind of relationship with them, you can define the relationships you want to progress into. The problem comes because most guys who seek out this PUA stuff are habitual lamo's who can't interact with women, they just desperately want to find a girlfriend. Then since they have no skills and no options the girl can walk all over him and he's afraid to assert his pair because he has no options, he fears being alone again. As a PUA you have options and are in demand.
Your pot of gold is where YOU find it.

QFT

also, im all for self improvement and what not, but dressing like a retard so you stand out and basically becoming someone you arent, just so you can wet the worm, really doesnt fall into that catagory IMO. Gaining confidence is a good thing, doing it so you can fill the void being insecure has given you by trying to sex other insecure people isnt.

[/ QUOTE ]

So go start a consulting business teaching people to 'fill the void' in other ways (that you subjectively deeem better).

Yeah, here's a much better one: "Can I buy you a drink?" (i.e. I'm some lamo with nothing interesting to say and don't value myself enough to simply believe that I am worth talking to and getting your attention in conversation because of who I am, so my plan is to bribe you with money (in the form of a drink) so that you will allow me to talk to you for 5 minutes). Classy.

There's some good PUA stuff out there and some lame [censored]. Like, I've read a little David DeAngelo stuff and he isn't really trying to make you a whole new person, he's more about giving you confidence and bringing out your best qualities (feel free to shoot me down if I'm wrong, I haven't read everything by him).

Mystery is all about acting like a retard to get some easy chick to [censored] you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Pretty accurate. I started with Maniac High's site. ESnow on this site is a huge fan of Ross Jeffries. A ton of this stuff is simple a very different take on basic Psychology...

Ray

[/ QUOTE ]

I would say some of it is NLP, not Psych 101, but there's certainly aspects of both. Certainly the guys on the show all look like F-students in your intro Psych class given their behavior...'What's your really bad health problem?' etc.

As others noted, if you're a boring, nerdy, unkempt, poorly-dressed, mumbling, insecure loser, then you shouldn't try to 'be yourself,' you should change for the better.

Whether or not it's okay to say anything to a woman to get her into bed is a completely different discussion that has nothing to do with PUA. As if guys who insult Mystery/whomever or look down upon his ilk haven't said things which will further their chances of sleeping with somebody, whether meeting a girl at a bar, while dating; a complete stranger or old friend.

Women also will often say things designed to get guys to sleep with them...they can be less obvious about it, but sometimes very, very overt. Just about all of us have seen this behavior at some point.

why the [censored] did he keep asking girls to buy him drinks?

[/ QUOTE ]

girls are not logical. u gotta pwn them.

[/ QUOTE ]

It steals their frame. Girls are used to schleps falling over themselves to buy them drinks so that the girl will give him 5 minutes of her time. F that! Take Charge! Don't go begging "Can I please give you free stuff?" LMAO

Never buy chicks you are not sleeping with anything (unless you would buy a male friend the same stuff in the same situation with no expectation of ever getting treated back in the future).

Never date chicks that you are not already banging.

Screw asking for phone numbers. You know what it means when you ask a chick for her phone number?
It means "I want to bang you but I haven't figured out how yet, so when I figure out how I will give you a call."

How about:
"So how did you and Eric meet?"
"I don't remember exactly, but he was confident/funny/etc."

Whether it is just about picking up pussy, is down to the individual.

Girls dress up so they stand out ALL THE TIME. Is this any different?
But I am very much on the fence with this, particularly the "becoming someone you aren't" aspect.

If you believe the story of The Game, Neil Strauss changed his entire personality to become Style. Then again, people change and develop over time anyway. Who is to say they are becoming someone they are not, if that is their choice?

People seem to think that actively trying different techniques to attract girls is wrong or something.

PUA stuff can be about any number of things... finding out how to attract girls, how to keep them attracted, how to remain independent throughout a relationship, how to provide the best experience for your girlfriend, how to be a man, how to get what you want out of life, how to be confident etc etc etc etc etc.

It covers a very wide spectrum of ideas, and there's something for everyone. But if people are going to be closed-minded, it's very easy to hate on certain aspects of it. But to reiterate, just about EVERY guy has something to gain by reading good PUA material (not the lame stuff, which is hard to distinguish now).

I think Mystery does instill confidence in the guys he works with. Some of these guys seem to be ok in most parts of their lives but have no idea how to talk to women. I'm all for anything that helps people become more confident, comfortable with themselves, and less socially awkward.

The degree of hate for these "PUA"s is kind of ridiculous and reflects unfavorably on those emitting it.

This show is the new favorite show of the gf and I. It looks really heartwarming in a Beauty and the Geek way.

I thought it was pretty good. I don't understand the hate for Mystery. He dresses like a douche but how many of you have [censored] 300+ girls? Something is obviously working.
