Re: SSNL HU Tourney?
This was the order of posters adding their name to the list :
Thatpfunk - His idea (Although said he'd like to help organise) Carrotsnake Claunchy snowbank Rolon rapidacid luckybacon jreezy Fonkey123 colombo Casper05 Steel108 (FT?) Caterp OevgO Hibachi Snakekilla88 DanJ Dirtylobster 2Paul2 good_Gamble Fletcher19 fees futuredoc85 bengiec vavavoom Tickner soon2b dp13368 chaos_ult michaelson UnknownSoldier (Busto Worries though) ValarMorghulis Jamougha Novles Kermit BountyKilla JayRiall ofishstix delta K Fgators Gimmetheloot(FT) Clayton nugget87 ejay Isura rebuyboy dtemp tufat23 viciouspenguin awarunn cs3 Wolfram chitown22 lucky_mf Offered to help run it : Sphere99991 Gsykes Isura Maulik I would help in any way I could... Basically from the tone of the posts there is a few issues : * Size of field * Entry Fee * Cost To Set Up and Oversee etc * Site (although Pokerstars is a given) * Escrow(ees) ..... 4 people with 4k each all trusted within 2p2...or similar 5x3K etc... Basically the 300BB on stars works very well.... So far 55 people have expressed interest..(upto and incl lucky mf) A 64 person tourney would take a week longer than a 32 person tourney IMO and this way nobody misses out...I understand the no lurker rule...but if lurkers are told they can't play how does it strengthen their interest to become part of the community... Maybe a $250 tourney for "64" people .... with the option of missing the 1st round for $500 buy in 2nd round..however, this wouldn't mean they are seeded or anything and would avoid other $500 entrants. Maybe, This would make it too confusing ... but there is a possibility of a workaround to accomodate those who want to increase the buy in... In theory it would be a 32 person tourney for $500 a man... $16K prizepool... maybe $250-$300 each for 2-3 people that organise ???? 1st = $5.5k 2nd = $3.5k 3-4th = $1.5k 5-8th = $750 + (4way split of remaining entry money, poss another $100 each) Say you have 54 @ $250 then you can have 5 enter @ $500 48 @ $250 then you can have 8 enter @ $500 44 @ $250 then you can have 10 enter @ $500 40 @ $250 then you can have 12 enter @ $500 The bracket would be created after the first round with random drawing of final 32 names... The first round draw could be filmed and posted via youtube...(No rickrolling pls) I'm not sure what else needs to be done..... But it could be straight up 1 300XBB match all the way to the final or semis could be 200BB best of 3 and final the same... or whatever....Other options to be added....? But this is what I can see so far ... Vava |

Re: SSNL HU Tourney?
Vava,
I would personally prefer 64 fields rather than offering a buyout because I'm a fish and would obv have to reduce my variance and that's unfair. As you suggested, the notorious free-rider problem could be solved through a tournament by encouraging others to participate on the boards. As I said last time, I'd like to help organize the tournament and I nominate you to as well for the mods. In the November/December we played HU on a prima play games or some such site. Again, I think that's what we should do. I'll try and organize a way to host all the videso from each tournament, we'll see how feasible that becomes. |

Re: SSNL HU Tourney?
Maulik, thanks for your support ... I'm happy to help out.... But if others are selected over me - no biggie...
Stars set up 200BB and 300BB SNG tables with 2c buy-in so that there is no rake as such ... thats fine for this purpose and I think most people on here have a stars account...? Also Stars software is good and we all know not to be in before the "river" on PS... Vava |

Re: SSNL HU Tourney?
$500 32 seat event, with $250 one match sats.
Seems good to me. I will make a commit/no commit decision after all the details are set. |

Re: SSNL HU Tourney?
I don't want to exclude rising $100 players. $300 is fine that's still 3 buyins.

[/ QUOTE ] For the msnl tourny stars set up hu tables w/ 3000 starting chips 5/10 non rising blinds that worked pretty well. Only 2c charge from each player. It's also easy for both to sit out and take a break if matchs are taking a long time. Up to quater finals it was 1 match then best of 3 w/ best of 5 final. Also I think $300 is a gd compromise number for the buyin. Paul |
