janice is just like her mother - even though she claims she's not, she right away said something incredibly livia-like (forget what that was).
etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't remember the exact words, but something along the lines of "And do I ever get any thanks for it?"

[/ QUOTE ]

this reminds me that i also liked the part with aj talking to carmela at the dinner table, wearing a wife beater, robe, gold chain and saying "always with the drama." mirror image of tony.

[/ QUOTE ]

that seemed really out of place to me - as though robert iler was trying to do james gandolfini. but yeah, definitely noticable too.

Tony is Dead

nah, I just dont think you guys are right. really, I think its leading you to believe what you want. the mafia doesnt hit people in front of their whole family like that, unless they absolutely cant help it, it just doesnt happen (phil was a special case becuase he was in hiding and any chance is a good one). so I believed it was us that were being tense and showing us some of our stereotypical views. Ie, just becuase there was an italian looking dude, or a couple black guys, doesnt mean they were there for tony.

[/ QUOTE ]

thats exactly how they killed tony's father full circle. he never saw it comming

[/ QUOTE ]

honestly I cant remember how they killed tony's father, how did he die?

LOL. Lame ending to a show that has been lame for years. We've been played for suckers as they'll make hundreds of millions in the movie that will be another 2 hours of nothing happening and totally unsatisfying.

At what point did this show go from plot driven perfection to some weak attempt at a dialogue driven melodrama.

I am so glad this show is over. I am tired of caring about characters that we are supposed to swoon over because David Grey or whatever his name is thinks they say clever things.

Bring back the Wire where we have closure and strong character AND plot driven episodes.

RIP Sopranos. You won't be missed.

welcome back troll. btw, the answer to the question in bold is season 1, episode 1 (minus the word weak)

IMO the ending sucked. Ending a series without ending it makes the whole thing a waste.

Anyone notice AJ at the house with the Tonyism? Something like "Her with the drama eh!"

I don't agree with the theory that Tony got killed.

If you look back on the last scene, it was a completely routine everyday scenario that had no tension about it. It is only the expectations of the audience that made it seem dangerous.

The scene was meant to show how easily manipulated an audience is into assigning meaning to essentially meaningless occurrences. This is especially true when these occurrences seem to allude to our existing experience with the genre: the guy going into the bathroom, referencing the Godfather, or the two black guys walking in, referencing Junior's hit on Tony. Even the existence of Meadow entering the scene makes the audience think of Godfather III.

lol yeah seriously go back and watch that episode - it's narrated by tony for god's sake, and it's all about how he's going into therapy.

they're not going to make a [censored] sopranos movie either.

pearls before swine. how people like david chase get the opportunity to make a show like this, i've no idea.

I never understand this point of view. Sometimes life just goes on. Just because the series is ending doesn't mean the lives of the characters is ending and everything has to be wrapped up in a neat package.
