Re: Sandwich tips thread
Wasabi Mayo:
Started putting this on the side of fish dises, then fish sandwiches, and now I put it on most sandwiches and nearly every other thing edible. Like Soss and his sauce, I can't get enough of this stuff. I make up a bunch of this at at time and keep it handy in the fridge. Never tried this receipe, but its close enough to mine that it should work. Double the wasabi they suggest (or add to taste) if you like it strong. 1/2 c mayo 1 tbsp honey 1 tbsp dijon mustard (NOT ballpark, but maille or grey poupon!) 1 tbsp prepared wasabi, or to taste of wasabi powder 2 tbsp lime juice couple drops of sesame oil 1. Whisk together mayo, honey, mustard, and wasabi. 2. Before serving, incorporate remaining ingredients. 3. Taste and season if necessary. Regards, Woodguy |

1) Cut sandwiches in half diagonally into triangles. This definitely makes them taste better. [/ QUOTE ] Do not do this if you are entertaing a member/s of the english aristocracy or upper/upper middle classes. They will think you are "common." |

Re: Sandwich tips thread
Quick tip, when served bread rolls at a dinner party, it is considered bad ettiquite to cut them with your knife, you should break them with your hands.

Re: Sandwich tips thread
Good point Phill. In my college in Cambridge, one of my friends and all his descendents were banned from formal hall for 400 years for his use of a knife with a roll.
EDIT: Btw this is a lie, I probably shouldn't perpetuate the myths about these places. |

This is the best advice of the thread. Everything else is about personal tastes, but rectangular sandwiches are no match for triangles. |

i haven't read all of this, but i'm amused by people telling the resident horseradish addict to possibly try horseradish on his sandwiches. c [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, I'm more of a sandwich expert than an El D expert. Does he prefer wheat or rye bread? |
