I love Julia as a [future] girl's name, but unfortunately, my wife's grandmother was named Julia and they don't remember her altogether fondly.

I kind of like the idea of naming all my kids J-something.

Julia is inspired by the Beatles song of the same name. My youngest daughters name is Charlotte. We call her Carly.

My Mom wanted to name my sister (if she had been a boy) J. Spencer (I hated spencer) but she loved the J. part. She said it sounded like an author. But she had a girl, and named her Julia Rose.

I honestly find it very clever and exciting when average white people name their children names that you would normally find in a specific race/culture.

I would find it very weird to see a white girl named Shaquifa.

Calling Julia J. wasn't part of the original plan. It just kind of happened naturally. Oddly, my wife and I have about 6 other Jay's in our lives...
