Re: Sit \'N Go strategy-reviews?
[ QUOTE ]
Can people just give some simple answers as to whether this book is worth buying or not? [/ QUOTE ] If for no other reason, I think this book is worth the purchase price to a serious SNG beginner for Part 4: Sit 'N Go Career Play. It gives good answers to petty much every question a beginner should ask that falls in the category of not actually having anything to do with how to play a SNG. |

Re: Sit \'N Go strategy-reviews?
It depends.
LOL I am half way throught the book. I like it. For a non-professional SNG grinder, it's a must read. I'm sure most good players can get value from this book. |

Re: Sit \'N Go strategy-reviews?
its a good book
but the low blindplay is a litle exploitible and a bit too straightforward people can question for how long these sng's remain profitable edges wil minimize if this book will be availible on pokerstars /fulltilt and the high rake will erase the remaining edge the author will not care , because booksales will cover up for the already declining profitabillity of sng's he knows the game is already over the top of playing volume anyway if i was in his position and could make money with a book , i would probably do so too i have 2 points of critics on the book thats the endless submissive b uttkissing malmuth/sklansky quotes of former books (like if you dont do it ,the manusscript wont pass to the printing stage ) and that "semi intellectual ed miller" imitation picture on the back of the book i guess thats all part of the job to become a member of the club |

Re: Sit \'N Go strategy-reviews?
Just finished reading low blind play chapters. I agree with most but author is offering strictly straightforward strategies (both in terms of assumptions about opponents, and in terms of self-initiated plays and response plays). If anyone puts you on being this standard a player you're exploitable.
Also, in general I think the sizing of open raises to take the blinds is too small. 2x, 2.5x, even 3x raises may have been best a couple years ago, but now it's really 3x, 3.5x, 4x. Finally, the advice on raising limper(s) also tends towards the small side. PxF generally advises 3x + 2x * # of limpers. |

Re: Sit \'N Go strategy-reviews?
The book is great. What is not great is people who have been determined to hate it from the minute they heard it was going to be released. No matter how good the book ended up these parasites are/ were determined to hate it. I'm talking specifically about the bunch of jerk-off's from the STT forum who felt they should have been "consulted." Honestly, I have never encountered such whiny negativity anywhere in my life. Makes me sick. I don't care how much these people know about poker, their collective character makes me nauseous.

[/ QUOTE ] I have not read the book but I agree with what you said about STT's attitude about this book. It was destined to be hated by many of them. So even though many of them are very knowledgeable in the SNG strategy, their opinions on this book are really tainted IMO. |
