Singer Distraught
David Singer is still meandering around the Amazon Room, trying to resolve the cellphone controversy surrounding his elimination from the tournament. Here's the latest: Jack Effel wants to investigate whether or not the player in question was using his phone for text messaging purposes; Singer believes that fact is irrelevant. Here is the official cellphone policy, as stated in the 2007 WSOP rulebook: 82. Cell Phone Rule: A player who wants to use a cellular phone must step away from the table. Any player on the cell phone or texting a messaging when the dealer delivers the first card from the deck will have a dead hand. No cell phones can be placed on a poker table. Singer, who is a lawyer by profession, has requested a refund from tournament staff and is seeking the opportunity to play in one of the remaining Day 1's. We're also told that he intends to speak with the gaming commission about the situation. PokerNews has conducted an interview with Singer regarding the controversy and it will be available for viewing momentarily. Stay tuned. |

What a whining tool, geez. It's as if that cell phone magically turned his made hand into a drawing hand. The guy must have no sense of dignity at all.
EDIT: If anyone got 5 minutes to kill listening grown man bitching and moaning, here's the interview: http://video.pokernews.com/v/469083ea54fcc.swf The girl who interviewed him sounds really sympathetic to his case as she's introducing him. |

NO WAY they can let the guy back into the tourney on a later Day 1 AFTER busting out. That would just set a ridiculous precident.
Refunding him IDK... so sketchy, still don't think they should tho. It half seemed like an angle-shoot as it reads in the previous post about this. Just take ur lumps sir. |

Re: ** WSOP ME, $10,000 NLHE, Day 1B , Saturday, July 7 **
Singer was well within his rights to ask to have the hand killed, and by the strict observance of the rule, the hand probably should have been dead.
However, they absolutely cannot and must not allow him to play on another Day One. That is a can of worms that can never be opened, because I can already hear the outrage now. Refunding his buy-in might be an option, but that $10K should remain in the prize pool and come out of Harrah's pocket, as it was their bad ruling. But even that seems a little sketchy, as someone else said. Unfortunate situation. |

He's definitely whiny, but I think he has a point about what happened.
If it were just some random tournament I doubt he'd raise such a stink, but this is the main event were talking about... |

I wonder what the rule is then regarding the use of iphones. Surely there are players using the device as a music player.
When a call comes in the music pauses. |

m,
"Any player on the cell phone or texting a messaging when the dealer delivers the first card from the deck will have a dead hand. No cell phones can be placed on a poker table." Based on that, it sounds like someone can look at an incoming phone call and silence it without breaking the rule. |
