I want to train to be a fighter now (but never actually fight obviously).

I know how to throw a punch and put weight behind it.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, you don't.

[ QUOTE ]
Right now, I couldn't take him, but within a year of training i'd have a good shot.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, you wouldn't.

[ QUOTE ]
Someone already commented earlier, but whoever said that Tyson couldn't punch harder than most heavyweights threw all there credibility out the window, and I think that guy was the one giving me the most crap. Tyson's punch is at least twice as hard as Mayweathers.

[/ QUOTE ]

Mayweather is not a heavyweight.

Sorry to be so curt. I will elaborate:

You may think you know how to throw a punch, but with "minimal" boxing skills and no other real training or experience (you would have mentioned if you had either, plus your statements in this thread show a lack of realistic fighting experience), you almost certainly are not hitting efficiently or with anywhere near peak power. Further, your statement that a year of training would take you from "minimal" to being competitive against an experienced professional fighter is simply silly. You could easily spend a year just on conditioning so that you don't fall over dead from dancing around the ring with a trained fighter.

I'm fat and slow and peaceful now but it wasn't always so. I've fought people bigger than me, smaller than me, older than me, younger than me, weaker than me and stronger than me and the one thing that matters above everything else is experience. If you step into a ring with Mayweather, you will get mauled. If you train for a year then step into a ring with Mayweather, you will get mauled a little less badly, but you will still get mauled.

I think you're just pulling our legs, anyway.

OP, look at what Chance did to Mr. Boston in about a half-round. HE KNOCKED HIS SOFT-BELLIED ASS OUT OF THE RING! And Mr. Boston had at least 50 pounds on Chance.

"I NEED RITALIN!? I NEED RITALIN!?!??!....What IS Ritalin??"

A light featherweight that has the skills to be on a show like the contender would knock out the OP in a couple of rounds. Mayweather could do it in under a minute.

recondite - definitely agree.

daryn - mayweahter blindfolded. my money's definitely on mayweather. although this does give OP the chance to run-away after the first couple punches land and he realizes he's screwed.

reading stephan's babbling about how good a boxer he would suddenly be if he trained for a year is like listening to someone who thinks they could run a marathon in under 3:00 or could hit .220 in the major-leagues or could kick 45 yard FG's regularly if they just 'practiced real hard'.

It's just ridiculous.
For most people, no amount of practice will help you to accomplish these goals.
The same goes for trying to turn yourself into a half-decent boxer in one year.

It was mentioned a few times, but there is really no reason Mayweather would need to go to the face. An average person would be wheezing and doubled over with just a couple of body shots. Their punching power is underrated, but that midsection endurance is even moreso. Body punches look routine, but the average person is finished after 1 or 2 shots to the midsection. Then Floyd can do a little dance and KO OP if he wants

Edited to say meant punching power was underrated

I want to know what Mayweather's chances are with BOTH arms tied behind his back.

He's allowed to kick and head-butt.
No tackling allowed.

I think it would be close.
Mayweather is not used to kicking but I think he could somehow manage.
He would be able to dodge this loser's punch-attempts all day I suspect.

I think Mayweather could pull it off. But this is the first scenario I've come up with where I think OP might have a chance.
