The Professional I don't know if this movie counts since I dont think it is even well known enough to be hated but I have loved it for years. No one seems to know it when I recommmend it though. [/ QUOTE ] anyone i know who is in to action movies and sometimes watches stuff besides new releases has seen this and like it. |

Snakes on a Plane. It delivered exactly what it promised and more. Everyone thinks that it's a piece of crap, and most people never even saw it.
To 90% of the replies in this thread: This is NOT a thread about movies that you like that other people hate. It's about movies that you think are good (for whatever reason) that are immediately discounted as junk based on reputation, title, or something. |

ok I guess it doesnt count then. Greg [/ QUOTE ] I think there are about a zillion OOT'ers who really like it. I feel like I'm in the minority for only thinking the film is 'pretty good' and not 'amazing/great/incredible'. |

Can't believe I'm the first to include Demolition Man. Probably rented this movie a dozen times when I was 10. I'll stay on the channel that's playing it if I happen to find it. It's an awesomely cheesy guilty pleasure; it's even better now that I've read all the novels/some of the authors whose names are not-so-subtly peppered throughout this film. The symbolism is about as subtle as a Mike Tyson uppercut, but damned if I don't enjoy this movie still.

Punch drunk love is the exact opposite of the type of movie that should be posted here. I came in expecting to love it based on all the hype it got, and came out hating it.
Battlefield Earth, Galaxy Quest, Postman, Waterworld were great examples - I passed on them in the theatres due to their horrible reviews or cheesy look, and enjoyed them moderately to greatly after seeing them. |

Read the whole thread and no one has mentioned Phenomenon.
It was a movie that had John Travolta in it, which in my experience is a bad thing. Overall the movie was pretty good. Since no one ever talks about this movie I assume most dismiss it as just another crappy Travolta movie, but I thought it was pretty good. |
