My brain obviously says Red Sox in 5 or 6. My heart says Rockies in 4 or 5. Obviously, the story of the Rockies improbable run to the Series for the past month and a half would be amazing. [/ QUOTE ] If you're Rick Reilly. |

Serious Q: where does the "humidifier" factor into stuff like Wakefield pitching? Does it help his stuff be more volatile or does that just affect velocity and keeping the ball in the park? [/ QUOTE ] The humidor basically just means the balls will retain their size and hardness, and not feel like BBs to the pitcher. However, the wind drag in cool dry air will still be less than at Fenway. It's supposed to be 68 degrees on Sunday here, and partly cloudy, which means relatively humidity around here will be lucky to be above 40%. I would think this would have a slight negative effect on the knuckler, but not as severe as pre-humidor days. |

The red sox are one of the few teams I hate without even hating their players. In fact I like the players on the red sox. [/ QUOTE ] I feel the same way. I think I really just hate the fans. |

If the Rockies can beat Beckett in Game 1, I'll be sold on their "magic" and will accept defeat.

Francis is going to deal these Red Sox so bad, Fenway will be shellshocked.
I hope. |

Re: OFFICIAL WORLD SERIES! - Boston Redsox vs Colorado Rockies
Alright, this thread is tilting me
Rockies fans Don't compare us to the Indians or any other AL team, it's futile 1. Because AL fans mostly feel that their conference is amazing because of win totals, which is debatable. I don't feel like debating it, it's not worthwhile, and it's a hard argument to make. The AL had great records and the Sox had to play the Yankees/Blue Jays, the Rockies had to play the Dodgers/Padres/D-Backs tons this year, blah blah blah, we could go circles, so stop I'm scared of the Red Sox. Period. Josh Beckett>>>any Rockies starter. Yeah, we knocked him around in like June. But this is October and gawd he's so hot right now. Facing him 3 times in t his series could be BRUTAL. The Phillies have an above average lineup, the D-Backs are anemic. Our ERA in the postseason has been great, but we haven't seen anyone even close to as good as the Red Sox. I cringe at the Josh Fogg vs. Sox matchup. Overall comparison: Starting Pitching Edge: Red Sox The Rox have Josh Beckett and Curt Schilling. Have they ever pitched in big games before? Dice-K is a wild card, but he has electric stuff if honed well. But... I think Jimenez is better than Dice-K. Better stuff, has been really really good all September/October. I mean basically Beckett/Schilling>>Francis/Cook but Jimenez>>Dice-K If it happens to be Wakefield/Fogg in game 4 I expect no fewer than 35 runs to be scored Lineups: Advantage Red Sox No baseball fan can tell me that Holliday/Helton/Atkins/Hawpe/Tulo is scarier than Youk/ManRam/Ortiz/Lowell/Drew I mean, you may be dealing with 2 of the top 4 lineups in baseball here, but you can't make an argument that our lineup is better than the Sox. Or, you could try but you'd fail. Bullpen: Advantage Rockies. Papelbon/Okajima are better than Corpas/Fuentes However The Rockies have a huge advantage with middle relief. The key will be how necessary are the middle relievers... if Becking-K goes 7 IP each game then we're in deep [censored] Coaching: Who the hell knows. Bench: Our PHers have come through pretty big this post season, and we have a good defensive replacement at 3rd. Not really sure about the Sox and how they'll play at Coors Overall, I want to say the Red Sox in 5. I know, this is lame coming from me, I should really be saying Rox in 6 or 7, blah blah blah, but all things equal the Sox are a better team IF We get to Beckett and IF Our pitching continues to be lights out and IF Papelbon blows one save I think we have a good chance But on paper, this is a Sox win Gawd I'm so excited though, this is going to be insane, I cannot wait until Wednesday I do think we'll give the Sox a good fight, there is no doubt about that btw. I just need to be real before I get all homeriffic on y'all |
