As for the actual banning in question, it's standard MM fare.

Just like with Nate.

Ah, it's another one of those, "Well, the reds are in charge and can ban whoever they want whenever they want, but man, we really shouldn't put Mason in charge of dealing with people with any sort of delicacy" situations.

[/ QUOTE ]

So this isn't a earth-shaking post or anything, but I just want to give Nath some love here because he's underratedly on-the-ball in ATF (and other forums, of course).

BTW, I think people generally underestimate the effect these sorts of bannings have on overall forum behavior and health. I mean, I was the subject of one of them, so I can't present myself as a typical case, but I've wanted to post some (hopefully) helpful, thoughtful, strategy-rich stuff in the 2+2 mag forum lately, but have decided not to do so because I was worried that I'd get banned for it.

I submit that I'm probably not the only one who heavily self-monitors in this way.

Hi Everyone:

On this site, we establish standards and then make our administrative decisions based on those standards with appropriate flexibility.

Hal is someone I happen to know very well. He has lost 98 percent of his vision. He can't drive a car. He can't walk through a casino without someone helping him. He can't find his seat at the poker table without help. He can't see the person on either his right or left and has to be told it's his turn. And he doesn't know what his cards are (or the board cards are) unless his helper tells him. To give you an idea of what Hal goes through, close your eyes the next time you eat a meal and don't open them until you finish.

Another way to look at this is suppose you lose your vision over the next couple of years. How would you feel if you were to find out that you have been attacked on a highly read Internet forum? Put another way, unlike virtually everyone else here, there is no way Hal can defend himself from this sort of thing.

I think that Clark now better understands what the problems were here and it's likely that Mat will reinstate him in a couple of days.

Best wishes,
Mason

Mason,

I think you might consider banning GA for the same time as Clarkmeister gets banned. It would make him feel virtuous to stand with Clarkmeister and endure the same punishment which he views as unjustified.

If personally attacks are ban-worthy you better buy a big banstick.
