Re: Need Tips - Workout Advice for a Girl
Didn't read through this whole thread, but thought I'd offer some firsthand experience since I'm a girl & didn't see any others chiming in.
I've played tennis competitively and trained with weights since high school (I'm 32 now) and have never had any issues with getting too big or musclebound. You should be able to do the starting strength workout with deadlifts/squats with no problem. Testosterone has a lot to do with gaining size. I've had significant increases in strength without getting noticeably bigger, even when eating a lot. |

[ QUOTE ]
I've got no problem with a woman doing compound movements...and I see your point. I guess I was just kind of grossed out by the image in my mind of my gf dead lifting 200lbs...lol. [/ QUOTE ] BTW I was just browsing youtube and remembered this post. These girls all DL around 200 and definitely do not gross me out. DL is one of the best exercises for a strong female physique because it hits the core and butt hard. Tiny Crossfit women DL insane weight : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijrdL15gb7c This video is almost porn : (hotties rack pull some serious weight) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc7Wgrdh3MA Girl deadlifts around 200 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JsEnsUG8ks Girl deadlifts 209 : http://www.musclewithattitude.com/re....do?id=1490871 (embedded video near the end of the article) One more : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsPq4LbIPdU Also super LOL computer animation : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xTGTj_2JdE |
