so true, what a joke. those c o c k sucker republicans telling me what i can and can't do all the time, what is happening with our country??

[/ QUOTE ]

The Republican Party decided to break away from real conservative values and instead has decided to pander to religious zealots.

I appreciate the heads up in this thread, I made my phone calls this afternoon and atleast feel a little better knowing I put forth an effort to prevent such action. Hopefully people remember such legislative actions when it's time to vote in November.

Name me a Democrat that earned our votes in this (non) battle.

You miss the point.

In answer to your question, maybe none, or at least too few to matter. Reason: not gonna score many political points standing up for your and my right to play poker. Sadly.

But the important point is who drove this effort to ban internet gambling? Answer: Republicans pandering to the Christian right. Once it's driven to the point of a vote and jammed into homeland security legislation, it's tough to fight against.

Can anyone post a link to live information on this legislation? I've searched the Thomas site and the Senate site with no luck. I may be stupid but I can't find it. I've already called my Senator but I would like to read more about it.

The challenge is that this language is not moving through the "normal" process, so we aren't exactly sure what the insert actually says.

Wonder how many of the conferees actually know what the language is.

any hope that the addition to the port security bill will be voted down?...or are we just going to have to deal with the fact that it is there and hope the language isn't that harsh and work around it.

Isnt it amazing that our bills in this country are being "assembled on the fly" and just being attached to other bills so they hardly even talk about the results of the bill.

I would not mind if they would regulate and tax internet poker, but instead they are trying to ban it without talking about it. Amazing isnt it.
