also would anyone else have liked to see the colts take Jarrett?

[/ QUOTE ]

The fact that the Colts picked an offensive player with their first two picks surprises me. They have the worst run defense in the NFL and didn't get to fixing it until the third round.

[/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't need near as much fixing as you think. The Colts defense was destroyed by injuries last year. Just think for a second what their run defense will look like with with Corey Simon and Booger McFarland clogging the middle of the line.

SuperUberBob,

I like your grades. But do the Eagles get a D or an F? (You gave them a D in the first post and an F in the cliff's notes)

I would give them an F.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's supposed to be a D. I'll have to fix that.

Based on their first 2nd round pick alone, they get an F. But they got good value with their later day one picks.

The Dolphins should be put in as an F.

"D
Indianapolis Colts"

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

"For a trade example, I think the Colts got a good player in Tony Ugoh, but I think they gave up way too much, so the pick scores a D."

Polian obviously had Ugoh graded very highly (1st round most likely as this is the only time I remember them trading up). They are giving up a high pick next year and this allows Ugoh to pick up the system for a year and then move to LT after Tarik leaves at the end of this year. D is absurd.

EDIT: To add, Polian has drafted 1 O-lineman on the first day with the Colts. That was Bryan Burlsworth who was killed in a car crash shortly after being drafted. Based on that history and Polin's being the man, Ugoh HAD to have a 1st round grade for him to trade up.

Don't let your homerism get in the way of rational thought chase. The notion of giving up a first round pick for Tony Ugoh when you already have the best offensive line in the NFL is stupid. They had so many other holes to fill up and they chose Tony Ugoh? That's just foolish.

Tarik Glenn's contract expires at the end of this year. No way are they going to resign him. Do you not know that?

As to the other holes, the only hole they have is LB at the moment. They need depth at CB, S, DT, but the only true hole is LB. They addressed the CB and DT at the end of the 3rd and just now took a S and LB. They still have 3 more picks and all will be spent on D.

I hate the idea of drafting replacements with early picks. The Giants did it with Mathias Kiwanuka in last year's first round, thinking that Strahan would be gone at the end of next season. Now, Strahan remains and Kiwanuka is once again the #3 DE. So, a late first round pick is now sitting on the bench for a second straight season.

I foresee a very similar future for Tony Ugoh. I don't believe that it is an inevitability that Tarik Glenn will be gone next season. Linebacker should have been top priority.

They have 4 RB's on the roster, I don't really see the need to draft one when they need another corner because they only have 4 viable options at the moment. I'm betting they will sign a RB has a FA but I don't see the real need to draft one.
