thoughts on the relationship between pfr and vpip, and hand-ranges

Is it mostly straightforward, do people think?

Example: You see a guy with vpip 15, pfr:8

His range is around:

22+, AT+, KT+,KJs,98s+

His Pfr would indicate he raises with:
33+,AQ+

So if he limps, we could put him on the rest of his range?

22,AJ-AT,KT+,KJs,98s+

Is that reasonable? If not, why not?

Sry...my advice isn't worth a flip outside of the micros where I play. Actually it may not even be worth a flip there either.

I do read the higher stuff though so please keep posting.

Most people up to NL400 don't mix up their play preflop except with big pairs, so yeah, its reasonable. Just make a note whenever somebody does something weird outside of their range.

Only point I'd make is you need to take into account how he varies his play by position. Your ranges are probably reasonable for a 15/8 in the HJ.

BTW, why did you split out 22 from his raising range? Who exactly raises 33 but not 22? I must be missing a lot of value when I have 33 and he flops a pair of 2s.....

sorry just chopping it exactly, of course 22 would be treated like 33 by a human player.

What you say is interesting, cos I do actually mix mine up to specific rates every time for deception almost without fail all things being equal...
