Belgarion raised his sword, focused his Will, and shot blue fire at the priestess Zandramas. She spun once in the air, then vanished.
The Orb is a sentient being, but not an intelligent one, and it has a great affinity for the earth from which it was created. Belgarion remained absolutely still, but the Orb sensed and reacted to his surge of powerless rage. The earth shook. Rocks from a nearby hillside were dislodged and began rolling down the hill. Trees trembled...then fell. The Knights shouted and evaded the missiles while trying to track down the party Zandramas had abandoned. Still Belgarion stood motionless. He had sent his consciousness questing after the departed Zandramas, all of his energy fueled into one terrible imperative. Vengeance. The earth shook harder. Now the horses were having trouble maintaining their footing. The Knights sounded a retreat to safer ground. The sky darkened and the wind grew. Your Majesty... Still Belgarion stood. Finally, the earth calmed, and the sky cleared. And Belgarion toppled over. One of the escaping followers of Dark had hit him with an arrow in the chest. The Forces of Dark have killed wdcbooks, Belgarion, the Child of Light. It is now Day.
