BUMP.

as I talk to more people I seem to keep hearing great things about Thailand.

I'm still hoping to go this January, but i suck at planning so far ahead, lol. I'll probably end up paying more but oh well.

Damn its so hot today.

Ive decided that Koh Samui is not a long term living option for me. I miss the big city life of Bangkok and think I will end up there sometime in the next year.

I will trade my blistering hot motorbike rides in for the BTS anyday!

I'm leaving in a week for 3 months there. Going with one of my best buds but would be happy to meet 2+2ers there.

Quick question though,

I am flying into BKK I am thinking of bringing my desktop and giant monitor with (I can't live w.o it,tiny tables just make me lose money and I don't know why), but am going to want to backpack for a few weeks before we rent a house and I set up shop.

Will there be a safe place I can leave some of my stuff for 2 weeks? I'd really rather not mail it, and I have no idea how reliable+expensive their mail system is also.

No kidding. Bangkok mass transit is the nuts. Today I woke up, decided I wanted to go buy all my friends lame gifts from MBK/Siam Center/whatever (which I walked around and didn't hardly buy anything). So I wake up, walk to a corner, get a fruit shake for breakfast, walk about 1/4 a mile to the water taxi (THE NUTS btw), ride it for like 25 cents to the Skytrain, ride that for 75 cents to the mall, and go shopping. Across the whole town for a dollar and it was even fun. The water taxi kicks ass and so does the skytrain.

I'm leaving Thailand tomorrow and I know I am going to miss

1) walking under 1/4 mile to eat freshly prepared food at anytime
2) not ever needing to drive somewhere
3) everything being cheap

honestly, I can't describe how awesome it is to be able to walk out your door and walk 1/4 mile to get freshly prepared food from the street vendors for a dollar. I'm going to miss this so much.

I wish I could find an awesome job and live here instead of America for a couple of years

edit

Not knowing much about where the awesome places to live in Bangkok are, if I was rich and looking for a place to live I'd get one of those sick looking apts/condos on the riverfront near a water taxi station. They have some ridic looking high rises
