I just read two pages so i just hope im not the first to say this, but what kind of sick country has something like a 'deportable offense' for someone who has been a legal resident since he was nine. No one finds this the least bit disturbing? From a sociologic point of view he is an american as much as the next guy. You can't send such a fellow to a desert he probably only knows from a postcard. Is this law rooted in some post-9/11 bush-administration paranoia or been there for longer? In my country only rightwing-extremists dare suggest such ludicrousy. I agree, very ridiculous to deport a resident.. He is an American who happens to be born in Iran. I think the country being Iran has something to do with this.

p.s. he's a scumbag if he really molested a child.

There's a lot of sketchiness going on here. I just spoke to Shiek...the Review Journal never contacted him for comment. He's figuring some things out now and then might make a public statement depending on what his lawyers instruct him to do.

I think the folks calling him a child molester would be well advised to hold their opinions until more information comes to light. I'm not saying he's guilty or innocent of anything, just that we don't know anything yet.

not to be a nit, but according to the article, he's only been a legal us resident since 1983. if he's 38 years old now, that means he was much older than that.

Yeah, just like Nazi Germany. All of you morons who say that have no idea how offensive it is or how retarded you sound when you diminish what happened during the Nazi reign by comparing it to modern day USA. Oh man, America is deporting a non-US citizen who committed a crime, this is just like how the Nazis killed all of those innocent people. I don't think that he should be deported at all, but get out of your "USA is fascist" bubble and take a reality check. For what it's worth, he should have been smart and applied for citizenship as soon as he could, just like any legal immigrant should, but it's too bad that it caught up to him with a wife and child.

Edit: Also I'm guessing you just don't know what it means, but to keep the status quo would mean that America already is like Nazi Germany, and will continue to be in 5 years. My reply was for all of the people who say "at this rate, in 5 years..." To say status quo in this situation is just even more idiotic.
