btw, i don't have pokerstove, but basically you don't have to pay his draws, plus he is going to freeze with two pair scare card hits.
also, i think fgators range is pretty damn tight, but i'll work with it |

This conundrum is the reason why I checked the flop against a TAG regular and is why people just immediately jump to the conclusion that OMG overpair you have to bet, call, go broke!
I base my decisions on making the hand simpler for me against my range of him, on the fly. Against this type of player I didn't like the flop against this perceived range. Then the turn card sucked hardcore because AQ/AJ/A10s, which are part of his range just beat me and I don't feel like turning my hand into a bluff on the turn. If the turn is a 2 of diamonds and he leads at us I'm personally not raising. My hand, in No Limit hold'em (yay) is not that strong against his range if the turn is a blank so I don't see the need to raise. I'll call lots of rivers because he'll fire through with air or semi bluff and attempt to push me off hands a lot of the time but I think raising just bloats the pot. Now if the hand played out differently and he led the 2 of diamonds and the river was my King then yeah there is no way in hell I'm not raising/calling a shove/shoving. A part of this thread was serious, like most of it when I started it. It was playing overpairs on ugly boards (in my mind vs the aforementioned range I gave him) and how to practice a little bit of pot control. It was also a form of defense against a checkraise which I don't think I can handle. |

hmm
flop standard is to bet, but this is ok i bet $15 on the river, i think i just call the raise due to range merging, but at gamespeed i probly shove it |

fgators,
this is your stance on the hand because you're a nit. just because you play 20/16 or whatever doesn't mean you're a solid tag. your flop/turn betting ranges should be wide enough for you to get paid off in spots like this. the fact that you fear playing KK hard here will turn it into some kind of pseudo-bluff indicates that you should probably rehaul a good portion of your game. |

Tannen,
Stop putting one hand, and my thought process, which was table feel and player dependent, as a basis for how I play NL cash games. |

this is just the latest example, i've never played with you but i think i know your game pretty well.
i've seen your stats and your w$wsf percentage is ridiculously low. if you ever acknowledge this, maybe you'll stop breaking even. if i were you i'd be thankful for pricks like me. |
