I'm looking forward to this. I think it'll be good for the game. I won't opt out unless I see that it becomes a problem. I like looking at my ss graph every once in a while. I had to use ss today to figure out how much I was up/down on ftp because tm isn't working and I forgot how much I started the day out with.

Isn't that similar to banning people from posting baseball stats? Maybe someone can come up with a better example.

Even take it to high school basketball, "oh crap they know I score 20 pts a game, I might be double teamed". "G. Smith only hits 10% of his threes, no need to worry about the outside game".

I use Sharkscope mostly to track myself or look up players are feel are good to see how good they actually are. The policy just seems weird to me. Maybe some wives are seeing their husbands stats and getting pissed

The fish need to be protected here.

Once again, I feel like this is a good move by Stars.

As far as the "baseball stats" metaphor, this is completely different.

Players should be free to play any game without their results becoming public record.

What's next? A find a player list you have to opt into?

'Stars already has a "hide from search" option.

Which has nothing to do with what I posted. You have to specifically opt into the data sites now to have the profitability data shown.
There are tons of players who end up on buddy lists and never hide from search that get automatic protection without having to opt out with this new policy.

Obviously stars has hide from search- which is the same as opting out. It's the mandatory opt in I was referring to.

I opted out of Sharkscope awhile ago. Reason - someone at the table would usually start talking about my stats and telling everyone at the table "wow that dude has amazing stats." I got zero action on my big hands. They know that when I'm moving all in, I got the nuts or pretty damn close to it, and would not call me down with top pair, ect. It was VERY annoying, and hindered my ability to make as much money as I was making before I got onto leaderboards and had a freaking platinum star next to my name...

I don't mind that stars is doing this, as I already keep my own stats in Poker Tracker and use that with my HUD to tell me who the donkey's are.

I've also seen players take a bad beat and tell the fish about Sharkscope and tell them to look themselves up to see how much they suck. This is NOT good, and I'm glad Stars is taking some action to take care of the problem. Bottom line, the more the fish are comfortable playing at Stars, the more money we (the good players) make. So this can't be all that bad...

I don't understand how this doesn't affect the product the db offers. The DB will do every thing it can to get other subscriber to opt in, but those that don't can't be communicated to at all. It totally ruins the product offered.

why do anti-PT muppets have to keep turning so many threads into anti-PT rants?

no one cares, and your arguments are really bad.

Ah. On another note, why does Stars care about people's stats being displayed? I never hear players complaining about it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Silent majority? I never liked Sharkscope. I bet most fish don't like it as well. Who wants to play for fun and have some idiot call him a fool for losing $X,XXX?
