There's nothing to showcase. If a week or whatever of playing time makes the difference between someone trading for him, that someone is an absolute retard.

The real likelihood is that they were 100% positive they were trading Salty before the deadline and didn't want him getting hurt.

They wouldn't have benched him for Julio Franco if they were showcasing him...

[/ QUOTE ]

Huh? I thought they benched him the last week to make sure he didn't get injured...?

I haven't heard anything but speculation about that. That's the excuse people have been using. I think it's a lousy one.

So you are saying Bobby Cox is a borderline retard for thinking that Julio Franco is a better player right now than Salty? Yeah, okay that makes much more sense.

Get back to me in two years. Looks good now, but if they don't seriously contend for a title in the next two years, why do it? They are still a SP short, and Mike Hampton is not the answer.

Yeah, Bobby's not having a good year. He wasn't the best in-game manager in his prime.

So if this deal wasn't a complete panacea then it was entirely worthless? Cool standard.

Yuck, Matt Harrison hurts his shoulder and gets pulled from the deal and we replace him in it with fireballer Neftali Feliz AND another pitcher to be named? Harrison's ceiling is a decent back end starter while Feliz projects as a top end guy. I guess he's atleast 3 or 4 years off and anything can happen, but the other pitcher better be garbage.

LOL, and they didn't budge on throwing C.J. Wilson in the deal, [censored]

Any chance Tex resigns for 5yrs./$80M after 2008 even though he's a Boras guy?
