MicroBob,
Kind of late making this post, but Vince Cellini is another long-time CNN Sports Tonight anchor who was good. His wiki has this rather funny line: "In 1996, Cellini earned a CableACE Award for his work on CNN Sports Tonight, where he absolutely dominated with Van Earl Wright." LOL at whoever wrote that. Also, according to further research, Dan Patrick was hired away by ESPN in 1989. |

I don't mind the anchors nearly as much as the Salisbury and Kruk types. Hiring a few former players for some insight is good, but filling the whole staff with these "analysts" who don't know [censored] about statistics or proper game strategy is the most annoying thing ever. At least Van Pelt, Ravech, and Davis have a bit of intelligence and wit.

I also hate that each of Bonds' last like 20 homers are their #1 play of the day. That's stupid.

The other night
We have BREAKING NEWS AND IT"S EXCLUSIVE!!! Buster Olney--Selig hasn't decided whether he's attending the Mil SF series yet. Ugh and I liked Buster too. I laughed for two minutes after that at how stupid it was. I just try to catch it for highlights and flip it fast when they put their crap on (whether it's the terrible things they do or the retarded analysts). as for when--Chris Berman's just horrible and he's been there forever so I'd say whenever they hired him. |

[/ QUOTE ] Because not only is "Who's Now" dumb, but it also became a movie plug. By the way, the latest issue of SI has a rant about "Who's Now." It is quite well done. |

Yesterday morning I turn it on and the lead story is the ATl/SF game. BONDS VS SMOLTZ!!!! The only highlights were Bonds' 4AB. 4 very exciting clips that consisted of a walk, 2 groundouts, and a single up the middle. Then they put up the final score, 4-2 Braves, without ever mentioning anything remotely meaningful about the game's outcome. If the headline on the sidebar hadnt been Bonds vs Smoltz, no one likely wouldve even known who the winning pitcher was.
Not that I expect better, but still irritating. |
