Re: Kobe Demands Trade...Round 2
lol @ how anyone can defend Kobe after the results of the last three seasons. He got what he wanted, and failed miserably at it. Even T-Mac did better running his own team. No matter what the Lakers get back, trading Kobe at least gives them a long-term future. Otherwise they're a [censored] team for three years or however long Kobe's contract is.

Re: Kobe Demands Trade...Round 2
Does anyone think the Lakers would be better not trading Kobe and then just letting him walk next year, assuming he opts out? That would obviously free up cap space, allow them to keep Lamar, let Bynum and Farmar develop, and have money available to sign some nice FA's.

[/ QUOTE ] If they want cap space, they could have that along with more young talent. Chicago could offer a resigned P.J. Brown who would take $10mil. off the books after the season and also get some good young talent in hopefully Deng, or maybe Gordon, Sefolosha and the 9th pick. |

Re: Kobe Demands Trade...Round 2
[ QUOTE ]
Its called "The Last Season". Anyways, I have it right here. I know Phil said a few times that Kobe does whatever he wants. That seemed to be his point. I just opened the book to two pages and found - Players worry that "if I don't get the ball to Kobe, he's not going to pass the ball to me and he's going to have the ball a lot more than I am". p 138 Or "He (Kobe) is going to do what he wants to do" p267 And along these lines I remember a story from the book where Phil told the difference between Shaq and Kobe was he would tell Shaq to do something and Shaq was like a little boy who would whine and complain but then go ahead and do it. With Kobe, it was "Sure Phil, no problem", and then he would do whatever he wanted to do. [/ QUOTE ] In Kobe's defense, he seems to have changed his mindset a little bit after that year with Rudy Tomjanovich. The end of last year and the beginning of this past season seem to indicate that he was willing to be more of a team player. He's still probably the most selfish person in the NBA, but I think he's realizing that in order to achieve individual greatness he needs to be willing to share with his teammates. |

Re: Kobe Demands Trade...Round 2
I'd trade Kobe straight up for Oden (b/c I know Portland wouldn't part with Roy or Aldridge). I could team up Bynum and Oden and have Farmar in the backcourt and it would be a nice looking future for the Lakeshow.

Oden/Odom/Bynum would be a sick front court though.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I can picture suns' fans slitting their throats if Kobe gets traded to pho. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Yeah when they start off the season 15-2 Suns fans will somehow get over it. [/ QUOTE ] negative. I'd rather have the suns play a 40-42 season than have a 70 win season with the suns. I also don't believe trading kobe for marion and barbosa will get the suns to 70 wins. Marion is as important as amare is. |
