haha jk. I will say this though, the lead singer chick is reasonably tough. Saw her take a boot to the head from a crowd surfing dude and it didn't even phase her.

If it is real metal you will not hear it on the radio. Remember that.

Cannibal Corpse
Vomitory
Pig Destroyer
Blessing the Hogs
Dew-Scented
Suffocation
Behemoth
Amongst Us
Bloodbath
Bolt Thrower
Mastery
Resurrection
Monstrosity
Drowning

any metal thread with no mention of dark tranquility, agalloch, (much) opeth or sentenced is not a metal thread. oh yes, and tool != metal.

however, props to the rammstein fans

If you want to get into what is not metal, I second Tool. I also add: any bands (such as Dark Tranquility and Opeth) that feature any of the following: Keyboards (NOT F'ING METAL IN THE LEAST), string instruments that are not guitar or bass, and falsetto vocal parts. GET THIS PUSSY [censored] OUT OF METAL.

It's this attitude that [censored] up metal so much and makes it crappy image music. It's supposed to be first and foremost music, right?

So what is your opinion of pantera based on their cover of sabbaths' 'planet caravan'? They use bongos (maybe theyre tablas, not sure) for christ's sake, how pussy is that?!?

RICK ASTLEY COVERING PLANET CARAVAN

with dimebag darrell's bluesy (pussy) solo at the end

I don't give a flying [censored] what metal's image is. All I care about is the sound coming out when I hear the music. For me that means music that is HEAVY, technically good and AGGRESSIVE. All this "progressive" and black metal BS out there that mixes small bits of metal riffage with crap like keyboards and operatic singing that sounds like Muzak can burn in hell.

There is crappy image music in every genre. It is the listeners job to find the authentic stuff. There are plenty of metal artists that are true to the sounds and philosophies that make metal great. You just aren't going to find them without a little effort.

KJS

PS. I never said I like Pantera. I don't except for maybe 2 songs.

yeh, I realize that theres lots of Numetal in there. Still I think it should all be covered as "heavy metal" since we are all one family.

No we're not. Check out the Dark Legions Archive at www.anus.com for elitist metal reviews.
