Tom Cruise in Born on the Fourth of July proves he has plenty of range. He has, however, chosen to cash in on easier roles for the majority of his career.

I would say the same regarding Tom Hanks (Philadelphia being his "artsier" film).

Among actors/actresses with range I would include: Kevin Spacey, Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington, and Annette Benning. Even they tend to choose roles that accentuate their natural gifts, though.

Yep...I think she is very sexy.
She has the fem-hippy-chick sexiness which I like. If I had to build the perfect woman it would be based on some of the characters she has played on screen. In real life I would probably not be so in to her with her obsession of her mediocre rock band. She is probably one of those actresses who is obsessed with being known as something else besides being a top actress.
