80% of the questions were insane though and I'd never stick myself in sad situations....

Who wrote the test?

[/ QUOTE ]

Hey guys,

I wrote the test. I've been working on it for about a year now and google somehow got it before it was ready. Overnite almost every poker forum had it posted and donks were going at it.

Some thoughts:

I'm still workin' on it but currently it seems to be pretty good at giving the best players the highest scores and vice versa.

The scoring in general seems to be relatively accurate, so in this respect the test is a success.

It also seems that the worse the player, the more complaints they have about the validity of the test. Seems to be a real smack in the face for guys that think they are poker gods running bad all the time.

I'm thinking of pulling a few questions right now, specifically the greenstein question and #2, perhaps the rounders question too.

Amusing to see some people lying about their scores.

are some of the cards missing for anyone else?

[/ QUOTE ]

Cards are missing if you have ad blocking software. Anyone else have this problem with no ad blocking software installed?

Shanemex, thanks for doing that!

I double checked those answers, and the ones I don't agree with is 2, 15, 25, 28, 36, 38(although this one is debatable), 40 and 51.

lol i remember taking this test a while ago, i got like halfway through it and quit... basically, they play a hand TERRIBLY up to a certain point, then ask you what you would do when you get in a situation that you would never be in if you were a halfway decent poker player.

it's like, "what do you do when you wake up naked next to a fat chick with a beard?" obv the answer is don't sleep with her in the first place

[/ QUOTE ]

Read the disclaimer next time.

"The "hero" will often play a hand horribly. Analyze the hand and choose the correct answer after you find yourself in a terrible spot."

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, no. Not if the avg test taker is so bad that they are basically guessing every time.

people who got the highest scores are the ones who have a good reason for having done so.

TC, bld, TC's student etc

[/ QUOTE ]

137 here. A lot of the situations were strange, so I'm impressed that the test sifted out some of the best players -- but lots of people scored in the upper 130's, and TC should have more than 6 points on us.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually 6 points is a big difference in IQ scoring. 100 is an avg score, less than 2.3% score over 130.

The data is normalized to look like this:
IQ score Gaussian function

As you can see, there is a big difference between 135 and 143.
